What's your budget and what kind of sound are you looking for? Have any clips or youtube videos of effects you're interested in?

Also, make sure to look in the Classified section here. Tons of good effects for sale.

I would get a distortion or an overdrive pedal. What is your budget?

A heavy fuzz is a must for metal. Check out Fuzzrocious.

In that price range, you're pretty limited other than a used multi-effect unit. Seek out a Korg AX1B AX10B, or AX300B. Great effects, great sound, no noise, and can be had for a great price. The AX1B would be the cheapest, while the AX300B will have the most options, and even that can be found usualy for under $100.00. Or there's always the Digitech stuff. The brand-new BP-90 sells for $100.00, and you can get the BP-200 used for under 1 Benjamin as well.

Punctuation, please.

Trying to read this junk gives me a headache.

yes it does matter. you see, punctuation is a key ingredient to successful communication. if you can't communicate your thoughts well, we cannot hope to help you.
and if we don't want to read your massive run-on sentence, we definitely won't help you in your tone quest.

my two cents: get a decent mutli-FX just to see what's out there, what you might like to use; then do your homework and step up to single effects.

ditto. Punctuation is to the written languages as phrasing is to the musical language.
