I need help on effects and my rack!

I have a 6 space rack that has the Ampeg SVT 3-pro, DBX 166a compressor/gate/limiter, and Furman.

1) I want a crunchy tone but still clear. Im afraid if I get effects my tone with be compromised especially my low end. Any suggestions?

2) I am looking to fill my rack but there are so many different options. Tuner? If so what kind? Sonic Maximizer? If so what one? Wireless unit? Again if so what kind?

3) Should I trade in the 6 space to get an 8 space?

Im not concerned about the weight.

Im just starting to pull my hair out deciding on what I want. So im looking for a little bit of help

We get both of those questions a lot. Before you add anything to your rack, think about how much it will weigh! Are you going to be gigging and hauling it around? Are you comfortable carrying a 100-lb. crate up and down stairs?

If the rack gets too heavy for me Ill just switch to a rack with casters. As of right now though Im not concerned with how much it will weigh.

OK, cool, next step: have you read some previous threads we've had discussing rack tuners, Aphex or BBE exciters, and wireless units? Have you noticed in the FAQ where it says where to look for threads about wireless units and tuners?

Yes, I'm busting your balls a little, but some homework on your end is necessary before we can really give you any useful suggestions.

Since it might not be as easy finding threads about rack overdrives and distortions, I'll suggest you look up the Sansamp RBI and RPM, the Aguilar AGRO, and the DHA (Dave Hall Amps) custom rack units.

Dont get the cheap NADY effects processor. It has a ton of noise. I used it like 3 times until i DC'ed it.
