I play in a church and I have a crappy little multi effects pedal' Its so bad I only use it as a tuner..........So im thinking about putting together a 4 or 5 pedal(with tuner) board. Now the hard part i know nothing about single pedals Sooo im asking for a little help finding good ones.....on Musicians friend

My church boards for bass have varied over time a lot. I'm not sure what your budget is, but here is what I would suggest on the lower side of the budget tracks...

Tuner - Ibanez LU20 - big display, true bypass, cheap
Overdrive - Digitech Bad Monkey - great mild OD with minimal bass loss
Fuzz - EHX Bass Big Muff - Inexpensive, clean blend available, huge sounding
Filter/Octave - Digitech Bass synth wah - Cheap (got mine used) good octave down, decent filter, synth tones are fun but not necessarily useful in church
Chorus - I use a Peavey BAC-2 Bass biamp chorus (cheap used, not made any more, bonus of allowing biamping (I often run my bad monkey on only the highs), boss chorus would be another decent option
DI - Sansamp bass driver DI - SVT emulation, or just making things sound bigger and fatter.

I don't own the BBM but have tried it out and liked it, but if you were looking to cut down pedal numbers for church that would be the first to go for me. Many would add a compressor, but I don't use one.

Steve

No problem at all, glad to help. I was suggesting things that I have used and that aren't expensive, but I can also suggest some other things... First, buy used, you can get all of this stuff for about half of what you'd pay new, and the Boss, Digitech and Sansamp pedals are pretty bulletproof. Second, try them out before you buy if you can (especially if you're buying new), or buy from a place with a good return policy. There are pedals that people recommend wholeheartedly which I have hated, and pedals that others hate which I love. Pedal taste is highly individual, although there are some bona fide classics which most people agree on, and the Sansamp BDDI is one of those (although many people would now suggest the VT bass if you don't need the DI function). Third, try out different pedals in the same categories, particularly chorus. The boss bass chorus is fine, but you may prefer the Danelectro cool cat chorus, which costs half as much, or something else entirely. My bass chorus is actually an out of production Peavey. The BDDI is a solid choice for DI, but some people prefer the MXR bass DI. I still stand by my recommendations obviously, and you will be hard pressed to find an alternative OD with so little bass loss at anywhere near the price of the bad monkey, or a similar combination of features to the BSW at near the price, but do cast your net a bit wider than my suggestions.

You should get an Assmaster for your church gig.
