I need one more pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I need one more pedal for finish my board. I just don't know what I need. Can you guys help?

Right now it goes Squier VM Telebass humbucker with a jazz pickup at the bridge > Tuner > TS-9 > PW-9 > Tube Zipper > ???? > Acoustic B200.

I had a Boss NS-2 in the ???? spot, but it sucked tone something awful. I have an EHX Germanium OD I tried at practice today, but it seems to be overkill on the dirt end. I have an AD-9, but i don't use delay much.

SUGGESTIONS?

Its always just one more pedal...just one more...
But yah a sansamp such as a VT or BDDI are both very useful.

If you don't know what you need, you better save money. Empty space on a pedal board is OK.

Well I don't need a VT or anything like that cause of the Zipper. Its like my tube preamp.

My amp has a DI in it, so I'm covered there.

I need one more pedal at the end of my board just because of the layout. The Zipper is at the top and its hard to run a line from it, over my power supply, to the amp. Ill post a pic of it here in a min.

I have thought of a compressor or an eq. I think an eq would be awesome for lead sections. I do some lead lines in my band and it would be nice to shape my tone just for that.

I thought it was, "If you don't know what you need, buy something that looks cool."

If you don't know what you want, you don't need anything right now. Wait until you find something that you want so bad you'd buy a bigger board just to put it on.

Check the Winter NAMM 2011 thread, sure to give you plenty of ideas to ooogle over

Does your amp's DI have a groundlift and level control? If not, you might consider picking up something which does. I bring along my old trusty Tech21 Sansamp BDDI just for that purpose - I don't really use the tone controls for my sound anymore (run the uneffected out to my amp), but it gives me a predictable tone to send to FOH as well as being tweakable to the soundman's needs (too much bass, too much level, ground-loop hum? - all fixable). There are also a lot of other options in this regard these days (I've had my Sansamp for more than 15 years)

The amp has DI level and ground lift.

I've decided on an eq pedal. Now i just have to search the forums for the right one.

j/k. It really is.
If you save your money you can save up for something that you really want and can make good use of.
Think of it this way.

Save your money and research effects some more. Don't buy any until you really research. Hard. Google is your friend. So is youtube. Take your time deciding, and be sure to test and compare often.
By the time you've chosen what toy you truly want you may have saved enough money for the price of this toy to not even matter too.

I agree. The biggest problem is I have that large sum of money . Like i said earlier I realize I just need a boost or eq. I'm thinking eq to make my tone have lots of highs and cut through differently for particular parts of songs.

I have little soloish parts on some songs that I had been using my EHX Germanium OD for a boost for, but not much tone control. I'm hunting for eqs now.

Thanks everyone for wasting time on me
