OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!
ME.... asking for help...
I know... sounds wierd....
But its tr00
I need to know if there is any way to create a droning type note with a delay. I can muster some serious compression with my current setup (pretty much involves comp->comp or dist->comp) so I can really suppress the attack of my notes, but I wouldnt mind some advise on setup/usage of delay for having the note repete into infinity (or as close to it as possible)
Before anyone asks: My setup is still the PODxt, tho I am thinking to getting the X3 for the dual amp thingy. I've been reading up on the manual and stuff and I will be able to have a delay created drone and still be able to play some cool (hopfully) stuff over it.
Man, I'm so digital sometimes.....
Anyways, need some advises pleez deliverz |

I have a clip of some really over-the-top delay madness that was produced with my old EHX #1 Echo being fed fuzz by a Blowtorch (with a Clone Theory at the end for an ambient effect). I twiddled with the delay time (which is why it gets crazy), but I always kept it low - otherwise, you lose that droning noise. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=5634090
Not sure if that's what you generally had in mind, but it's a start. I didn't do any clips with a consistent delay time, but if you follow my advice from above, it should do the trick, I think.
I'd highly recommend a compressor after the delay for reasons other than sustain... feedback can be a nightmare on your speakers

I don't know if the POD has a hold function, the Zoom does with an external switch. Or am I misunderstanding what you're going for? |

Or it might just make you sound like Fieldy.

PS: I tried to find a picture of Butt-head as Marley's Ghost from that one Xmas episode but totally failed. Sucks.

Think long droning note that goes on forever....
Swift: I WISH that the pod had a hold function.......... but no. Instead I can set the volume pedal to affect only one tone in a given patch (there are two per patch, kinda like bi-amping). I can prime up the delay with my awful noise, then back off the volume. Im pretty sure i can set it up so that i can bypass the amp section of the other tone in the patch, muting it in the process. I can then hit a switch, un-muting the tone and play over/under/whatever the delaying drone. Hell, i can just leave the 2nd patch unmuted the whole time for an interesting effect, i imagine...
Hope that makes a little sense. I know what I mean..... if thats any consolation....
So Boo, i wont have to worry about insane feedback cus i wont be feeding the delay monster all the time Quote:

Well, you do need a "sample and hold" effect for that, I'd imagine. Delay just doesn't do it. It'll do droning feedback, but not sustaining a note.

Having the volume occilation when the delay repetes is kinda cool. Not quite plain drone, but something with movement.
Ill keep you all posted. I may be renting the X3 in a couple of weeks (omgdanstryingbeforehebbqs?), so keep on the edge of your seat till then lol | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
