i just got an offer for my brown dog that i listed for sale months ago, so i figured what the hell and let it go. now i need a new fuzz.
in typical effect-junkie fashion- must play nice both active and passive, and i have no budget (but lets keep it under $200 if we could?)
lets hear it. whats the trend of the week? im open to wild oscillating screaching moaning open the flood gates to hell kind of madness, as well as simple 2-3 knob boxes that sound great. |

I have played neither, though one of them is on it's way. |

depends what you want homes. my favoritest fuzzes evah are the Oxide, the TAFM (with the gate footswitch mod) and the Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B. Oxide is the Do Everything Make All Fuzzes TOANZ, TAFM is a face melting beast that gets all beautifully clippy with gate on..... also has a lot of movement with held notes. Pickle Pie B is a great I Know I'm Gonna Cut Through EVERYTHING lover.
also, for a more weird yet useful set of tones, the Infanem 2nd Voice is LOADS of fun. |

im not picky. i have other fuzzes that i use, but i need one "regular old fuzz" type of thing. the oxide seems to win the contest so far. |

| | | You got to love the options we have in 2011. So many options. If you want high quality copies of the classics or some mods and experimental designs from builders that genuinely enjoy building effects, you can find it somewhere.
Wren and Cuff would be the place to go if you want that genuine muff sound we love from the old russian pedals. There are plenty of other boutique muff fuzzes that you could look at too. I just got a Swollen pickle clone from a local guy and I'm debating if I need to buy the Tall Font russian again. Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian - YouTube
I used to own the oxide. It is a crazy pedal and I'd go with that if you're looking for a fuzz that will make you go WOW with options.
I sold my oxide because I was broke on the road and only used it for one of my groups songs.

how are the subs on the oxide? can they blow sh*t away? i play lots of hiphop. i usually use the red messdrive for that, it just screams phat minimoog, but its too loose. if i could add a gate to that circuit i would be the happiest man in the world. |

I may have narrowed it down between the IE Oxide and TAFM, but any other suggestions is OK.
TIA

IIRC my settings are eq all the way down, morph almost all the way counter clockwiseso the gate is tight but not sputtering tight, drive all the way up, fuzz/clean to taste, and strangle/voice switched down. It's definitely low, but i usually add oc-2 and a static low pass filter cutting out most of the highs to get a fat moog type sound. I think it was the deepest/lowest of the 3 fuzz's mentioned earlier and I liked it's gate better than the orbit's |

TBH I think your ideal fuzz is a Brown Dog. Whoops! |
