...I Think I Blew a Diode on My Muff...

LBM... quit working with the power adapter today... works great with the battery... but adapters... no... The only difference between connecting it with a battery and connecting it with the adapter is that there seams to be a diode in the - path for the adapter whereas the - path for the battery goes straight to ground...

oh yeah, I tested the diode with my multimeter and there is no signal going through either way I connect it

Do I need to replace the diode or can I just jumper it? I assume it is there to stop the - flow of the battery into the - flow of the adapter... I never use a battery so theoretically it should work right?

I just don't want it to break when I try it...

Diodes connected to the power supply usually are just to prevent power flow to the circuit in case you use a reverse polarity power supply.

How are you testing it with your meter?

well... there is a diode test function in the resistance testing section... I tried it with a different diode that works and when connected in the correct way it displayed a value, with the one I thought was bad, it displayed no values ever

I tried just jumpering over the diode and it works, so I will just leave it methinks... I may replace it some day when I have a diode just sitting around... but that day is not today

how can you check diodes with a normal multi-meter?

I would think you'd take a voltage reading on either side of the diode. There should be about a .7V drop.

Use the lowest ohms setting, should read 0 in one direction and infinity the other.
