I think ive figured out what is wrong (to my ears) with the X3

The one amp I really loved on the xt was the "rock classic" SVT. Select the 810 cab and the non-dub dynamic mic, boost the hi-mids a lot and the low mids a little. BAM! Very lively sound.

So I decided to experiment on the X3 last night. I did some samples with the SVT and Tube Pre models. The sample of the SVT (on "part" for each microphone) I do a run up then down (all EQ knobs strait up, gain 75%) then I pick (useing a pick [for a more midrange sound]) the low A, and violently mess around with the midrange knobs (going from flat to full boost) on the POD. To my ears there is no difference at all! With the tube pre I just did the strum/mid knob violence type thing. Even the tube pre (which sounds awesome on its own [and has "working" mid knobs]) sounds "dead" to me. I've tried a few cab model/mic combos and all the bass stuff really muffles the amps non cab sound

Funny thing is, all the guitar stuff sounds pretty awesome and not "dead", as do the bass stuff with some fuzz/distortion (as opposed to OD).

Anyways im posting this so you guys and gals can listen and tell me if im crazy on this or not....

I really think its the cab/mic stuff thats just not right..... like I said, the SVT/810 combo on my xt had some really audiable changes when I turned the knobs, unless im really losing my memory....

It sounded to me like there was more variation in the SVT clips than the tube pre but not a great deal. I definitely liked the SVT better, especially the beginning. I don't know what any of this means.

God doesnt even know how much I want an SVT setup

Listening to the SVT clip again it seems as if the hi-mid adds pick noise, and the low mid does nothing. IME it should add clarity and a little livelyness....
