Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer or Tech 21 VT bass?

Hi, I'm looking for a decent pedal to spice up my tone a bit. I'm looking to add a bit of mild distortion to my tone. I play thrash metal with a pick and I have a jackson and a fender P bass. I've got an older peavey head running through a ampeg 4x10 cab. I used to own a bass driver DI and was unimpressed with the effect it had on my tone. It was almost like with the drive fully cranked I wasn't getting the amount of overdrive I was looking for. I've tried the Boss odb-3 and it sounded to "artificial" to me. I know I'm being quite vague as to what I'm looking for but I'll leave a few videos of tones I want to sound like.

I know Ibanez came out with a bass version of the TS, but I have yet to read anything worthwhile about. I owned a VT and it wasn't really my thing, I'm not an ampeg guy. If your just looking for an OD my favorite is the Pork Loin.

The Tube Screamer only sounds good through a tube amp (IMO of course)

The VT bass will definitely be better since he is rocking an svt...

Just posted something similar in a different thread regarding OD pedals. I use a TS9B, and have only used it through my SVT-CL, so I can't tell you how it would sound through anything but a tube amplifier. I can get a nice, subtle overdrive out of it without losing any definition which is exactly why I like it. I never crank the drive knob. Just adds a bit of the dirt that I like. I've never tried the VT bass, but have heard many great things about it as well. Even if it doesn't get a lot of stellar reviews, the Screamer works perfectly for me which is all that matters.

That's pretty much what I want to do with my tone. I love the sound i'm getting right now clean, but it just doesn't quite blend well or sound that amazing when there's a break in the guitar playing. i'm mainly just looking to add a bit a dirt without losing much of my clean tone so it'll blend better with the sound of the band

Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive (is a vintage Tube Screamer 808 variant) has a clean blend feature....

The blend the clean control blends back in a boosted direct signal. This restores the attack and feel which is lost in a highly compressed overdrive circuit.

The Sparkle Drive utilizes the same concept as layering two amps, one clean and the other saturated. Of course with the clean control turned down, you get a classic overdrive tone. All the way up, it provides a super transparent, 100% clean boost.

works great for adding a little hair

also try the Catalinbread SFT great Bass overdrive!

and the Fulltone O.C.D. is pretty cool on bass as well

The Catalinbread is great or check out the SubDecay Supernova Drive. I have that and have been using it for a while with awesome results.

Hmm. This sounds like it may be the type of overdrive I've been looking for. However, I've heard that in order for it to not lose the low end, it needs to be modded to use it with bass. Is this true in your experience?
