Ibanez Bass Tubescreamer Opinion...

Sign in to disble this ad
Yesterday I went to a new guitar store in my town. I was looking for a used amp to buy as a backup to my 100
Watt tube amp. Didn't find an amp but did stumble across the Ibanez Bass Tube Screamer.

First off the pedal sounds absolutely wicked with a TUBE AMP. The bass and treble controls could really fatten up tube heads that sound great with guitars, but less than stellar with bass. It made my JCM 800 go from cutting like a knife to bludgeoning with a log. It just put out such a thick n' mean sound.

I then tried it with my guitarist's Peavey Nitro Bass that we use as a backup and thought the thing sounded absolutely terrible.

In short it is a fantastic pedal when used with a tube head in the right context (Loud, Over Driven, Rock and Roll)

I'll try to do a clip much like mr olson has done only with a ampeg 410 hlf and a jazz bass with flats.

I really feel the pedal will please the tube amp folks!!!

I have read a few peoples comments about using an overdrive pedal in front of a tube amp sounds better than a solid state amp.

yeah, I love my TS9 in front of my Blackheart Handsome Devil with my Telecaster but I tried putting it on in front of a Marshall Lead 15 and all it did was make it really treble-y no matter the setting.
