The Ibanez Tubescreamer Mods

I'm chasing this tone.

truckfighters chamelion - YouTube

A very gargly stoner rock fuzz using a Thunderbird bass and Hi Watt rig.

Pezo the bassist uses a modded Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer. (see link)

Ibanez TS9DX Turbo Tube Screamer

I dont know which mod though and thought I would come here for anyone who might have some tubescreamer insight.

As far as I know there is the 'silver mod', the 'brown mod' and the FLEXI-4X2 Mod. (There are probably more good ones)

So, am I close with any of these?

Not sure about the mods specifically, but isn't Pezo the drummer?

I haven't too long discovered them myself. Really digging everything I've listened to so far.

Hell of a live show.

I'm not 100% on what he's using but I don't remember seeing anything crazy sticking out of it. My guess is he's doing some low end boosting and a good amount of gain. Unless you're looking to copy his rig EXACTLY I'd play around with a tubescreamer combined with a tube amp. That should get you in the right ballpark, try out a TS9B maybe (bass tubescreamer) they might help you get there, they get pretty fuzzy and have good low end, and like any TS has lots of mids. And again, tube amp. TS are great for tube amps not so much for solid state (one man's opinion).

I may be off base, but there's my two cents.

The Keeley Baked Mod is one of the best Tubescreamer mods I've ever tried...and I've tried a lot of them!
