If money wasnt an issue...

Sign in to disble this ad
So I need a filter, a wah, and a reverb for my band at work (army band). I have some of my own, but they have money to order whatever I want. If money wasnt an issue, which filter, wah, and reverb would you get? I know that there are some that arent as expensive as others and may work better, so dont think there is a certain minimum amount. Help me out gurus!

ooooh, filter wise I'd get a meatball clone, meatwad or a grinder, get an expression pedal to go with it and you won't need a wah. Reverbwise, EHX have just brought a new one out that looks fantastic, think it's called the cathedral

What sound do you want out of a filter? Every filter will have a different vibe. What particular songs do you have in mind. A wah is essentially a filter that is controlled by your foot instead of plsying dynamics. Are you sure you need both? As far as reverb the discontinued Boss RV-3 has a ton of great sounding delay and reverb options. You can get them on ebay though.

i would buy one of those clones with an expression pedal just to use as a foot wah. i was not impression with the envelope section.

i loved the qtron, but hated the volume spike and clipping.

the af9 has much less of a spike, but is also not as wet.

i think the chunk systems filter sucks (not wet enough).

i dont want pay for a vintage mutron.

where does that leave me? qballs or a prometheus.

or: a looper with volume control. this is how i use my af9, but that gives me an idea that will spark a new thread if a search tells me its already been asked...

EDIT: oh, i forgot to ask: how big of a reverb sound do you need? a delay will cop a good reverb sound and do a lot more (some have loopers, so of them happen to do delay as well...).

Im definitely not a fan of subtle. I like wet, heavy "quackness". I like the Maxon, which is overall to me the best filter Ive had yet (Mini Qtron and DOD FX25B are the others), but I could honestly go for a little more over the top. Honestly I never thought of a wah that way. I may not need it then. I like the expression pedal idea as well.

Yeah, ebay wont happen. Its gotta be new and from a dealer for contract reasons. Shoot, if the army could do that, I'd get all the bass gear from here on TB lol.

For wet heavy quack a meatball clone's your best bet, It's probably just personal choice between the meatwad and the grinder

For a wah, I'd get a G Lab Bass Wowee. Hell, money is an issue, and I'm *still* gonna buy one.

1) Filter----Moogerfooger Bass Murf

2) Auto Wah----Digitech Bass Synth Wah ()()()()

3)Rocking Wah Pedal----I've seen an affordable Hiwatt Wah pedal....I haven't heard it but I've seen some reviews that have made me curious...Hiwatt is no joke..I own an old Hiwatt guitar amp that I run my Fender Jazz thru all the time for its Distortion channel...I know 1 other guy with an old Hiwatt that sounds AWESOME....If thats any indicator of how the more contemporary products are, I'm getting one!!! But I'll have to hear it first

4) Reverb--- I'm stumped with you.

For reverb, I'd pick a Hardwire RV-7 Stereo Reverb. It's versatile, and sounds great. Been thinking about getting one myself, but I'll wait 'til the new EHX Cathedral comes out, as that one seems to fit my needs even better than the Hardwire would.
