If you had to buy your pedals back, would you?

If your pedals all died, would you get the same ones back or new different ones? Give some details.

I'm wanting to see what pedals people cant live without.

I have a Boss PS-3 and Boss PW-2 that i would buy back for sure. My Boss NS-2 and Boss ODB-3 are questionable.

I would buy my Meatwad again, and an OC-2, and probably a Woolly Mammoth (but I'd be tempted to try the Big John Hairy Balls instead). Bassballs I might swap for a TWA Little Dipper if I ever actually get to hear one. GodLyke - where is this pedal?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?

I don't have any other pedals at the moment - sold loads. Oh I've got a new XO BMS on the way to replace my older BMS, so I suppose that answers that one.

It's an interesting question for this reason.

If the question was "Suppose you had the money back that you spent on your pedals originally, would you buy the same ones?" then by and large I'd say yes. (Or at least I would have. I'm overhauling my board so it's a hard question to answer either way)

But if the question is, "Your pedals died. Would you buy them again?" the answer would be no for a lot of them. Number one, the cost would be very high and I don't think I'd be willing to pay it. I'd go with cheaper alternatives for most of them. Plus, it's always hard to buy the same thing again. Like when I had CDs stolen in college. I had a hard time plunking down money for the same albums I'd already heard a hundred times. I bought some of them back, but it was one of the few times I've used filesharing (Napster at the time) instead of buying music.

The El Grande and the EHX POG (full size). I regret letting those two go.

DUDE! NOT FUNNY! DUDE!

Look my last count was about 54 boxes, some are really rare and hard to find, some are home made. Just the idea of having to find all that stuff again then spend all the money, all the time researching....................................... .

Answer: no other then a few "core" boxes I would have to start all over again

But if all of your pedals died at the same time, it could be something to do with dodgy wiring or whatever, and you might be able to claim it on your insurance.

this is the stuff i wanted to hear. My PS-3 and PW-2 pedals are the only ones i would shell out that kind of money for again. I would want to try other pedals to replace my fallen ones.

I agree with TheBigO... It's not all that exciting buying the same stuff all over again, so id say that I would probably try a few new pedals out.

Now that I think about it though, the pedals that I would like to replace, would be really hard to replace due to being discontinued and rare.

I would die trying to find another Frantone thunderhead but the other I would probably buy again in a heart beat(except for my Digitech bassdriver "gross")

You could always buy it (El Grande) back from me.

I would buy back the VT Pedal, the Keeley Rat II, and the old KMD Overdrive I bought used for $20 25 years ago. I wouldn't buy the EBS Microbass II again because for what I use it for (switching between upright and electric), a Radial Bassbone would have done the job for $200 less, and I wouldn't buy the vintage Deluxe Electric Mistress again because vintage EH effects are noisy, have crappy bypassing, and are very hard to work with in today's world.

A pair of Sansamp VT Bass pedals and a dual loop selector (LS-2 or other), is about all that's vital to me. One for cleaner sounds, one for dirt.

Everything else is negligible.

I depend on my B:ASSMASTER and the Blowtorch, and would buy those back in a second! Would probably try a different chorus, wah, compressor, light dirt etc, though.

Not all of them, no. I wouldn't get the 105Q, Cool Cat, or the Rotary Ensemble. However, I won't let my Q-Tron die again, and I'd go for the XO BMS.

The only pedals I would replace are my OC2 and my TU2

I don't really use the rest anymore.

I would definitely replace:

Boss NS-2 (Can't live without it now)
Homebrew Hematoma (Best overdrive I've ever heard)
Tech21 Bass VT (nuff said)

I would probably not replace directly:

Ibanez LU-20 (Awesome stomp tuner for $40, but I would probably spend a bit more and get a Pitch Black)
Digitech EX-7 Expression Factory (ridiculously cool pedal, but I just don't use it as much as I thought I would)

Stuff I would have to think about:

Aphex Bass Xciter (I'm not sure if it's as necessary as I tend to think it is)
Digitech BSW (Only because I haven't had it long enough to get familiar with it)
Visual Sound H2O (Awesome sounding chorus, but not quite the delay that I want)

My current setup is Bass Big Muff>Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr.>Arion Stereo Analog Delay>Pitchblack>Headrush 2

THe only one I'd consider not replacing is the Arion. I'd try to find another analog delay or another headrush. I love the tape echo setting on it.
