and I've done a lot of searching and reading of threads but not found my answer. I had an EHX Small Clone but didn't like the sound. I think i don't want warm and analog! I also dabbled in a Boss CEB3 but again found it was similar to the Small clone to my ears.
I'm leaning towards the Digitech bass chorus based on the sound clips on the site but wondered whether anyone could recommend some others. I like the chorus sound in my tascam and guess I'm leaning towards Digital and harsh!
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I tried my Small Clone with the bass but I only like it with guitar really. If you don't like the Small Clone then the CE-5 is in the opposite end of the range of sounds available from choruses.
It's a personal thing though so if you can get a shortlist together and try a few out in shops then you can decide what sounds best to your ears. |

| | | | Go to analogman.com, and look at his chorus pedal. I've got one, and have used it for guitar, as well as most of my basses. REALLY nice tone. |

I purchased it new on 8/22/08 using a store credit. I wanted a refund but the store didn't give cash refunds. And unfortunately, they don't have bass stuff. I figured that I would try it, but Chorus is not for me. The listing is under DJHurst6520. I also listed a Bass Big Muff, but it sold within about 30 minutes.

Depending on your budget (which I don't think you mentioned), there are more expensive options that sound fantastic IMO...try the TC Electronic SCF, or the Fulltone Choralflange...
For less expensive options, try the Guyatone micro chorus...you can pick one of these up used for pretty cheap (I got one for $40 off ebay)...and it sounds really good...slight volume increase when engaged though... |

| | | | You must try the MXR stereo chorus. Its amazing and works fantastically with bass. I had a Clone Theory and a japanese CE-3 and this MXR is so much better in every way. Its lush, warm, rich and adds no noise.
Only downside is that its a bit expensive and needs 18volts to power. Well worth it though.

Ralf | Boy do people hear things differently. I always thought the TC was the warmest chorus I ever heard. I'd buy one if the price wasn't ridiculous.

Really bass-friendly, and has some features not found on other chorii. (is that a word?) |

| | I'm a tumbler, born under punches | | Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Northern California | | | I'd second the MXR and the Guyatone, good units. The Analogman is a great chorus, thick and lush, but I wouldn't call it warm. In fact, it is based on the old Small Clone, so I imagine it wouldn't appeal to the OP.
A sleeper is the George Dennis Chorus Flanger. Very warm and organic and on the more subtle side of things. Count me as someone who doesn't like the cold, 80's sound of boss chorus pedals so I liked this one a lot. It's not on my board now only because I don't use chorus enough.
Of course, that warm, organic quality also extends to the flanger. So it can't do metallic, "jet taking off" flange sounds.
There's also a foot pedal version that works as a volume pedal or allows your to contol one of the parameters (I forget which) with your foot.
Hope that helps. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
