Sign in to disble this ad
Been ALL over the internet listening to clips and researching and been to many stores demoing etc etc etc, and I still cant decide what I want. Heres what Ive narrowed down to:
EHX Bass Big Muff
Earthbound Supercollider
ZVex Mastotron
Way Huge Swollen Pickle
Small Sound Big Sound Team_Awesome Fuzz Machine
Wounded Paw Attack Goat
Wounded Paw Battering Ram
Audio Monk Fuzzbeard
Audio Monk Fuzz Potion
I want a fuzz that sounds really warm, retains low end, and sits in a mix well.
What do you guys think I should get?

I guess you can say WAYhuge, in your face!!!

While i was trying it out at L&M about 5 other bassists came over and asked me what i was using to get that wicked fuzz sound. So i don't know if that helps |

What do you guys think I should get? | its not on your list but, IMO "the" fuzz for a warm low-end happy sound is the chunk systems brown dog. its also real versatile, it can sizzle and get crazy, but on mild settings its exactly what you describe. |

Maybe Ill save some more pennies for it |

I guess by warm I mean strong mids and not a lot of treble |

I have a bass muff and I love it, but I think of it as a 1 trick pony. It does one specific thing, and does it very well, but I wouldn't call it versatile.

The really scooped sound with a lot of boom and sizzle sounds like bass synth to me.(Biggest example being Time is Running Out.) The Woolly Mammoth and the B:assmaster seem to be more along those lines.
Sound is in the ear of the beholder, but my preference is for the warmer fuzz.
EDIT: What something sounds like on record or on the internet can be very different than in person. Someone said they thought the B:assmaster was warm, but the internet clips I've heard makes it sound scooped and synthy. I guess you never know until you try it (which is an expensive habit to get into.)

Personally I will not recommend the BBM for anything other then light fuzz uses. I find it is good for lo-fi fur sounds but as for full on muffage I found it a big letdown. I know others will disagree and that is fine but out of the three muffs I have right now[I'm getting a forth muffiant soon] it just doesn't cut it. |

The demo was guitar and sounded great, but we all know what sounds great on guitar doesnt always transfer over to the deep end.
Thanks for pointing it out and sharing though |

The Musket has no wait, and it seems to have more tweakability | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
