I'm new; Need imput on effects

My local music store had a 20% off sale this morning for the holidays so I went out and bought some stuff....

I've never had any effects, but figured some additions were needed to my stuff. I got new strings, the D'addario ProSteals, and I love the way they sound. My more questionable purchase was a Dunlop 535Q Crybaby wah. I know it's a guitar wah, and am thinking already that I'm gonna return it because it doesn't seem very versatile.

Now that I'll have $100 or so to spend, what would be a little somethig to get me going? I'm thinging of a chorus and flanger to start out. Is that a good place to begin and go from there?

It really depends on the music you play and your personal preference.

My taste lends me to suggesting distortion/fuzz, octaver, bass synth, and an evelope filter.

I'd also suggest a multi-effect unit as a good starter as it will give you alot of effects to play with allowing you to see what you like. This is how I started by getting a Korg AX3000B.

I more or less started with a Zoom B2 multi effect unit. It's got a good selection of decent effects and it costs about $100. I'm planning to upgrade some day when I'm not so poor. At this point I have a pretty good idea what I would want if money were no object but in the meantime, the B2 is pretty nice.
