I'm torn: B:Assmaster or 3XFX Fatman/V2

I need an over the top fuzz pedal. Both the pedals in the subject peak my interest. From the sound samples I've heard on line, the 3XFX sounds better, but online samples don't necessarily translate to real world use.

I need to be able to keep the low end but go nuts too. I'm leaning towards the 3XFX but would like some opinions from fellow TB'ers! Thanks guys and gals!

The Fatman is the definition of 'over the top'. Possibly too crazy, so be careful what you wish for.

Check out Ed Friedland's review of the B:Assmaster on Youtube, it's pretty informative.

Hmmmmm.... sounds great and seems a bit easier to manipulate than the 3XFX

if your looking for the pedal to be actually "musical" i would go with the b:assmaster, i owned the fatman and fliped that rather quickly.

I've never played a dirt box that cuts through a mix as well as the B:Assmaster does. I effing love mine, even if the volume knobs are a whole new adventure every time I turn it on. Great pedal that has no chance of leaving my board anytime soon.

I've only used my Fatman V2 once in a band situation, and it sounds great, but is more along the lines of fattening up your sound than cutting through. I'm not talking about the oscillation mode obviously, which would fit my definition of "go nuts," absolutely.

Thanks dudes! Sounds like the B:Assmaster might be the better route. I want something to cut through and not just fatten. My main band is a three piece stoner rock/indie rock type of thing and I need to cover leads from time to time to free up the singer/guitarist. Maybe I should go with the Barker and then save up for the 3XFX- couldn't hurt to have both down the line!

I was after a fuzz and these two where at the forefront of my GASlist but I recently aquired the B:Assmaster for a great price from a bloke off Basschat and it's amazing. You can almost swim in the low-end and you gotta love pink LED's!

Between the ass volume and bass volume knobs you have an excellent degree of control so you can get a really thick fuzz sound with bags of definition which I thought was severely lacking on another well known and respected fuzz pedal I tried recently.

Great fuzz, I'm really pleased with it.

Has anyone compared the 3xfx Buzz Bomb to the 3xfx 3XFX Fatman?
