Impedance and the Extra "Mode" on my Torn's Peaker

Sign in to disble this ad
Crazy new thread day for Dan!

Ok, so when I go bass->Peaker, or even had the Peaker in the loop of a VBjr, the Peaker worked like:

Code:
Texture = Min: Crackly/messy note decay
Texture = Max: Gated sound
Texture = somewhere between 9 and 3 o'clock: Sine wave harmonic added to sound. Value varies upon Texture position
Now, with the Peaker in the FX loop of the GT-10B, it opperates as follows:

Code:
Texture = Min: Crackly/messy note decay
Texture > Min: Still messy note decay, but with a horrible squeel instead of a crackle
Now, im thinking that it definitely has something to do with impedance since the manual for the GT-10B says that the output impedance of "SEND" is 3KΩ, and most times other pedals are 10K IIRC.

Now, there is that impedance buffer made by Toasted (IIRC). Would that "solve" the issue? I actually find that I don't need a gated sound, since all my other pedals are pretty quiet on note decays, but Im just wondering if I could use the buffer (with a toggle or something for on/off?) to bring back the crazy sine wave drone sound.

Definitely sounds like impedance.

The output impedance is much the same, however the input impedance is significantly different. Try putting another pedal (buffered) between the Peaker and the GT-10B return to "buffer" the low input impedance.

I haven't tried the Peaker after the GT-10B. Only before and in its FX loop. And in the loop of a Barge VBjr (which I no longer have).

I will try it after the GT tomorrow and maybe put my TU2 in the loop with the Peaker.

Yup, try: GT-10 send > Peaker > TU-2 > GT-10 return.

Cool. I will, among other configs.

But at a much later date than I want to. Stupid work
