Inadvertently found a sick fuzz tone-clip!

So I was messing around with my pedals trying to get something out of them like a fuzz/wah thing (I sold my fuzz pedal a while back, so this isn't as easy as it sounds). I ended up getting something close to one of my all-time favorite tones--Andrew Weiss with the Rollins Band (what's he been up to lately, by the way?).

Check it out:

I'm running p pickups through a grindy VT Bass into an EBS multicomp, then into the Ibanez SB7 (for how cheap that pedal is, it totally kills!), then into a pretty clean PBDDI.

You like?

Me like, although that's quite a few pedals required at once! I didn't know the SB7 could get fuzzy like that.

To get a similar tone, I think the key is running overdrive into the front end of the SB7, which changes it from a funky pedal into something else.

It is indeed a bunch of pedals to get that tone. Thankfully, I keep the compressor and PBDDI on all the time, so if I want to get it live, I only have to step on two things.
