Individual or seperate?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a cry baby and an ice box from a friend to tinker with.
I told him I'd really like to buy a Boss with all kinda sounds in one unit.
He tells me that I wont like it. Too much "stuff" to deal with. Easier to just have a few sounds that I like. He says the Boss I saw has 10 billion sounds....of which 4 or 5 I might actually use.

Get basically the same answer from a bass player at work.

What do y'all think of this.
On another thread about boards, I noticed people has a half a dozen of individual effects neatly on one board.
I like the idea.

I'm a beginner remember.
Yeah I know, spend more time practicing and less time on stuff I'm not good enough to use !!

But still a good question for the future...for me that is.
Thanks, Dave

There are many many threads on this topic and a quick search will get you more opinions than you could possibly want on the topic.
It all comes down to personal taste.

Multi effect pedals are convenient and generally have more effects per dollar. If you like tweaking and setting up patches etc they are fun. They are also a great way to get familiar with effects and decide what you like.

Single effects are often higher quality, simpler to use, but more expensive. You can get just the ones you want and have more choices for each rather than a package deal.

Either way, most people change their pedal boards from time to time. Buying used gear will save you $.
Enjoy

if your able to tapdance and play at the same time, seperate pedals are fine.multi's allow you to build up patchs of very usable sounds which only need one pedal to de/activate the only problem with cheaper multi fx boards is the digital processor cant handle bass freq. very well and you end up dropping out of the mix on sustained notes.
