If I'd known that something the price of the iRig would work alright for practice, I could have had myself a new toy for Xmas. | I'm using the the Peavey AmpKit Link. Like the iRig, it plugs into the headphone jack of the i device. For my money, the quality of the sound is fine. But, more importantly for me, I can still plug a charging device into the 30 pin, at the same time. I play long gigs. I need the power. Unlike the iRig, the AmpKit Link has a battery powered circuit. Reportedly, the active circuit helps with noise and feedback. Works fine, for me.

I REALLY expected the Redhead to be the amp I favored. Instead, I keep coming back to either the GK for its slap tone or the Blueline for that Alice in Chains grindiness. This amp just does it for me. With my MIA P and the Blueline with the LA2A on the front end, I have MY sound.
What's everyone's "MY" sound? In any of the apps, which amp/effects/whatever combo is your go-to tone, the one that is your main sound? |

What's everyone's "MY" sound? In any of the apps, which amp/effects/whatever combo is your go-to tone, the one that is your main sound? | The blue line IS great...... Where I play and the wide variety of songs I play. Each amp has it own voice and I try to get that amp to growl just a tad with a distinctive whomp on the low side with a airy clean mid high....wow really hard to describe but each song has its own my tone that I look for with the mix I'm given at that particular day. Because there may be different sets of rotating musicians that have their own "my sound" on that day that they pick for their sound so "my sound" has to sit in nice with their sound wow reall really hard to say what my sound is. At the church I play at there are three different drummers three different rhythm players two different lead players and too many front line singers that rotate. Im the only bassist. And every week is different. This past week "my sound" was the blueline:
Volume to about 6.5, bright switch on, treble at 6.3, mid at 4, bass at 6, all switches on left side, and the output gain was on -13.4db.....but my bass onboard EQ was flat on middle 5 except the bass knob was bumped at about 7
These were in the set this week to give you an idea http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IoezWBPGRAc http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7PTvr755V8s http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sY657h4iZlk
Not all but that was part of the set.
That JesusCulture is fantastic

It is the least clean and the roughest amp of them all! I think you have been "hanging out" too much with me!!
My tone is kind of split between the amps as each of my basses have its own "my" tone.
My Ric shine best with the Ampegs, I think the B15 with the LA-2A or with the Rat is "my" sound. The Ric growl and bark shines with the B15.
The Geddy needs a tighter low, so the GK RB800 works very nice, with the LA-2A in front.
The Squier CV60 P bass goes very well with the GK for that 80s grinds rock tone or with the.... Blue Line for 70s tone.
The Redhead? It have a lovely tone, but is it a bit too kind? The Redhead goes well with the Ric when one want this sweet mids and warm lows, and above all definition and clarity. |

The charging issue is probably the only point were the iRig, Ampkit Link wins over the 30pin interfaces.
But normally the battery on an iDevice should manage 2-3 hours if you reduce screen brightness. Screen light and WiFi are two aspects that eats battery.
And when you use 30pin interface the A/D job is not done by the iDevice as well. |

What's your favorite (modern) band out there.
There aren't a lot of them these days that really get me going musically. there's a lot of fluff out there right now.

I've been more into old school stuff lately, like old Motown and 70's classic rock. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
