So I was just down in the Cave redoing my settings a bit. The guitarist from yesterday (not the one with the attitude) called me today and he has another singer he wants to try out. So we're gonna jam again tomorrow night. That's cool for me, one last session before going under the knife on Wednesday.
Anyway, I noticed several EQ issues yesterday and needed to reset my brain and get away from my "bedroom tone" and back into band thinking.
Have I mentioned that I love this stuff?
Sweet me too.
"The cave" that's what everyone used to call my bedroom in the basement when I was living at mom and dads.....ahhhh the cave.... I could sleep through a hurricane in the cave.

I am chill incarnate.....I thought you were offended somehow from me saying that I like the 215s so much. Your posts came across to me that yours were better and I couldn't possibly be getting a good mix from my inferior 215s
But....that's the nature if the text. it's so emotionless.
I have heard from someone else that I was being too harsh before in a few posts in another thread. and on my wife's fb page. (i dont personaly have one) when I was talking in jest. I do want to say if I have offended anyone I am truly sorry.
I've several headphones/ IEM, and I like each of them as the are, no EQ whatsoever on any of them. Btw, the bumps and spikes on the diagram are a bit deceiving as the SE215 are not bass heavy or boomy. They sound kind of warm. The SE425 are a bit "leaner" on bass, they sound more like my AKG K701, thus clear and sharp, lovely definition.
My Beyer DT770 headphones are a bit like my SE215. Out of all my IEM and headphones they sound most like a bass cab, a tweeter less one.
The Ultrasone HFi580 have more sub bass, high mids and highs, but not as warm as the DT770.
Best bang per $$$ must be in my eyes the SE215 and the HFi 580.

I was gonna call it the Manhole, but well.. You know.

Well I do (sort of) think that (in that I definitely prefer 425s to 215s)! But I'm still glad you like your IEMs and would never seek to make your mind for you. Don't worry about it, this is just a place for discussion. I don't know about harsh text but the way I was reading it was you were taking it all quite personally, which is a recipe for disaster in a place like this. Either way keep having fun, that's what it's really about.

What we have to remember here on this thread (as on any thread actually) is that the budget each of us have for investing in gear is not the same. Some have kids etc and more expenses, other are in a point in life where they have more $$ to use on themselves. So, while in no doubt the SE425 with 2 drivers are better (in terms of Hi Fidelity) then the SE215 with the single driver, the SE215 are just stunning for well under half the price of the SE425.
My dream headphones are the Ultrasone Ed8, but so far I have to leave with the HFi580...
Yes, nice picture of a dude from TB! This song is to his legacy and describe his journey where he try to discover his bass tone on iOS. First there is the Locrian mode which describe an initial hope which is followed by some unsatisfactory regarding his tone due to hiss, low pass filters etc. Rip is going through some more grief trying to find his tone. This is the part on the Aeolian mode. But there is new hope in the Jamup and Apogee which brings him to totally phase of joy (just observe the picture!!) which is described by the Ionian mode on the closing part of the song.
I just bought the Digital Delay pedal in Jamup. This one is cool in that when you touch one of the knobs, it lights up to let you know.
Maybe having all pedals and amps react that way would be cool.
One of their few weak points of the Presonus StudioLive mixers, is trying to identify what you're adjusting on their iPhone and iPad apps.
Mackie were obviously paying attention, because the buttons in the iPad app for the new DL1608 not only grow, but light up, when they're touched. This gives the user positive feedback.
Sounds like Positive Grid has been paying attention as well.
I really like the way Multitrack DAW does it. The knobs, buttons and sliders all grow and come to the center of the screen.
On an iPhone that REALLY helps. Also, some apps let you click on the number value and it brings up a dial that lets you be more exact. On a tiny screen, these things are VERY important.
Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback on headphones, hope I didn't sidetrack the conversation too much.
Also, great list of the interface choices Steve. Having the Pros and Cons listed like that is excellent for someone delving into iOS for their bass. I looked at that Presonus thing...it's a monster. So many knobs and buttons it looks like it can from an old Sci Fi movie.

Budget? You just need a friend who works at Guitar Center...
