He had the JCM800 on the screen and to my delight there was an additional knob which was not there before!! |

I need a mic to record my voice and the acoustic guitar. was thinking of buying the Apogee Mic (its received great reviews) and with my Apogee Jam im covered. And then i saw the Itrack and im in a dilemma.
Have you seen and difference in quality between the Itrack and the Jam? Because after all i ll be connecting my guitar too if i get the Itrack. |

Can't we just run any mic into the input on the Jam (with the proper cable, of course)??
I know having a mic with a built-in preamp is ideal, since there's no phantom power available, but what if we ran a normal everyday 58 into it? Has anyone tried??
I tried once a long time ago with Irig. It didn't end well. Haven't tried with the Jam. |

In addition the iTrack is A/D and D/A which can give you better sound out. Not to mention an integrated headphone amp.
The main minus of the iTrack is this short and stiff cable between the iTrack and the iOS device. You will to buy an appropriate extension cable is you want more flexibility regarding the placement of the iOS device.
Both options are great, the iTrack pack some more features and maybe better tone/ quality (specially if you are going to utilize the 96/24 in your DAW) while the Apogee will cost you about half the price. Both solutions will be a good purchase.
If you want less hassle regarding cables, USB/ Apple power supply (a must) etc, go for the Apogee unit. |
