Still getting my presets situated now that my bass actually sounds like my bass, so the tones aren't 100% where I want them yet.
Great clip Rip. no surprise that this is your best tone so far you have lots of low end in these clips, specially on the GK, but this time with the Jam the lows are nice and controlled.
I liked best the BL, then the RH. I guess I'm a mids kind of guy....

Here is a clip I've worked out just now:

It's... A Ric with a B15 a QTron and the LA-2A

And there is a clip from yesterday, also a B15 but with the Spring reverb

I like your tone better on the first part, especially when you do those slides (if they are slides).

+1, the first part to me had a tone that I would use, so that gets my vote.

I'm thinking of trying something like this in order to use the Camera Connection Kit for audio into an iPad via an AmpKit Link: bass>AK Link>3.5mm stereo (w/mic) to USB adapter>Camera Connection Kit>JamUp

I would then use the headphone out like you guys with the Apogee Jam.

What say you Techies?

It won't work.

The Irig is the cheapest working interface. And we all know how that one sounds!! A $7.99 audio interface is gonna sound like a $7.99 audio interface. And that can't be good.

It may WORK, but that's the best you'll be able to hope for. It probably won't sound very good at all.

We know how you feel about the iRig.

It's not an iRig and we really don't know the differences, yet, between it and the AmpKit Link. We assume(d) the problems you were having is with the iRig: what if it's the mic input that's the problem? My "question", if it works, solves at least the mic input issue.

Other than the "stock" input method (30pin), can you tell us the difference between the design of the iRig/AKLink and the Jam? Either way a single pair of wires from the bass is converted/adapted. Easy. For all
we know, the Jam is a fancy AmpLink Kit that, rather than use batteries for its noise quieting properties, draws power from the USB; we know that it draws to at least power the LED. But that doesn't mean the sound quality comes from the Jam, but rather, the input. There's only two pins needed on the 30pin for audio in, so maybe...

The camera connection kit does work with other audio devices.

Well, based on that explanation, it MIGHT work, and you're right. If it does, it eliminates the mic jack problem.

After playing with Jamup for a few, I decided to check out the B15R in Amplitube now that I can actually hear it.

I'm now deleting Amplitube from my phone. It just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the B15 in Jamup. I checked the CL, didn't care for that one either.

So, I guess I'm totally done with IK Multimedia now. Their interface will be given away soon (it's headed to CO, I think), and their app just doesn't measure up to Positive Grid.

I'm so blown away by the clarity of the Jam. No noise AT ALL. It's awesome!!

if you already have the CCK then it would be around a 10 dollar gamble (with shipping) it might be great but i wouldn't take that gamble ..... I'm not the gambling type. i would just do more research and save my money and then spend it on something that i know for sure. but again thats me. Hey who knows.... it might be known as the "AaronMB Loophole Connection" for all the Ampkit Link users

The jam is a digital interface which converts analog signal to digital signal. While that jack to USB thing you show up here might be a decent A/D or not. My bet, very limited. And I'm not sure at all how the gain structure will be between the Ampkit link, the converter, and the iDevice.
I'm quite sure Steve could come with better answer.

LOL!

Actually, I vote for AaronMB to run with this... look at it as a $10 experiment that will benefit the iOS community, and if it works people can buy that instead of the iRig to get started (w/o having to spend > $50 for other options).

There's only one way to know...

+1. Go for it. At $7, if it doesn't work, who cares?

Right!

Unless our resident expert can tell us for sure that it won't work, I just might try this. I can imagine how it would work, and how it wouldn't: the fun of knowing just enough to get yourself into trouble!

The adapter would go well in the extras drawer for hoarding future use if it doesn't work. With all this excitement about the sound quality by going into the 30pin, I'm going to get in there one way or another! I'll try this experiment first, though.

Worst thing to happen is that you end up with a mic interface for your PC. It's not like it doesn't have other uses.
