Advantages I've found include: ability to mix instrument signal with iTunes and other apps (not just JamUp), no headphone out needed (I had noise/interference issues using Jam/JamUp as part of an effects send/receive loop. didn't seem to like the headphone jack output.)

Also, when using an envelope filter, never put it after the compressor. The reason is that the compressor will level out the peaks that the filter needs to do its job.
I use a DI box right before my signal hits the PA, just to make sure the PA get the levels it needs. Plus, at a gig, the soundguy will be more agreeable to a signal from a DI box than he will to being handed a 1/4" cable (which he'll probably just run through a DI box anyway). | Compressor after the amp, sound almost like the compressor after the preamp in the TC RH450 and 750. |

Also, your iPad version of bass gear magazine is great! |

Tom, would you take a look at the Line 6 mobile In. Does everything the Apogee does for $20.00 cheaper. (minus the computer connection)
The post is by Untergeek (scroll down) |

It's like the ART unit but made specially for iOS devices. |

Even though I'm also (according to IK) an "IK hater", I started using the Irig almost three years ago, and only a few days ago switched to the Apogee Jam.
So even though I'm not a fan of the Irig, I'm also extremely familiar with all of its burps and farts. I know the Irig inside and out, including how to tweak it to make the tones it produces usable in the real world. Yes, it's noisy, but I managed to make it work for almost three years before Audiobus came along and rendered it useless. |

Good news is it comes per-configured with cables for both 30 pin and the new Lightening connectors. And has a USB cable for direct connection to a computer, etc. http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/...terface-569342

Thanks! | Hi, kenstee. You can ignore Rip this morning, he's off his feed...
Any decent studio monitoring setup will work with your iDevice. Mixer, integrated stereo amp, headphone amp, computer audio interface and powered recording monitors, etc. |
