Even though I'm also (according to IK) an "IK hater", I started using the Irig almost three years ago, and only a few days ago switched to the Apogee Jam.
So even though I'm not a fan of the Irig, I'm also extremely familiar with all of its burps and farts. I know the Irig inside and out, including how to tweak it to make the tones it produces usable in the real world. Yes, it's noisy, but I managed to make it work for almost three years before Audiobus came along and rendered it useless. | Cool, thanks! |

But I don't see any reason to slander Apogee in the process.
Apogee didn't contract their manufacturing out to some sweatshop on the Pacific rim. The Jam is made in the USA. The iRig HD looks to be quite a bit smaller than the Jam, making it even more unlikely that they share the same internal hardware.
Also, if you know anything about computer recording interfaces, then you know that a.) not all 24-bit interfaces sound the same, and that b.) Apogee is known for a particular sonic signature.
I don't think that Apogee would be impressed by someone starting rumours that a competing device made by a little Italian company is produced in the same U.S. factory as the Jam, or that the other product is physically or functionally identical.
1K isn't making any such claim, and at the moment the only marketing edge that they're promoting is the inclusion of a Lightning adapter for the same price as the Jam. |

We just had an extensive conversation with Brian from IK about this product over in the "official virtual AMPEG portaflex club" thread. And it was a doozy and I hope Brian continues to come around the thread.

We just had an extensive conversation with Brian from IK about this product over in the "official virtual AMPEG portaflex club" thread. And it was a doozy and I hope Brian continues to come around the thread. | I want to formally apologize to the IK group (Brian, OBI, etc.) for some of the comments said by some of us threaders for some of the "step - out" comments concerning the production of the new "HD-iRig" it is funny that it looks so much like the apogee but I hope it's even better in quality for your sake. Time will tell.....
Lets hear a few sound clips of the HD with AT. Possibly in the "Prieto's B-15 Hot Sounds Cook-off" that may or may not be the name. I'll let prieto name his contest. But here's a perfect opportunity for Brian and any others to "Duke" it out if you will, and submit your clips

I tried the Jamup last night and it sounds better than amplitube by far. I will say no matter what, I do not get the best sound out of the K800. It is very bass heavy and very scooped sounding. I can see this being great for slapping but not with my basses any way. I like the Blue Line the best.
Another question on Jamup. Can you use another program to record with? I used the sampler last night and it was cool to make a loop but that is all. I need a 4track or more for what I like to do. I see that people are using the DAW. When using that are you using the Jamup setup while you are recording through DAW?
That is what I like about Ampkit and Amplitube, they have a recording system in them.
Also I am loving the irig still. With Jamup I get no noise from the irig. Unless I use a noisy setting. So everyone should stop hating on the thing that got most of you into the ios world in the first place. I want the Jam or irig HD now as well but the irig is working great for me at the moment. |

I do like the sampler because you can add layers of instruments to it. I think I used my EMG active bass (the first bass I ever built) and my 64 or 65 Teisco gold foil pickup guitar (I love this guitar). http://soundcloud.com/meyersguitars/flavor-funk |

I ,myself, never have said it wasn't usable. I used it LIVE for over 2 years until I bought the ART. I don't want there to be any hard feelings to Brian or any others here from IK on the contrary I hope they take anything said here with a grain of salt or a spoon full of sugar to help that medicine go down. We all can use some constructive criticism. It's just that there have been some wronging on both sides if anyone wants to admit it or not.
To your question the way to get your sound clips on the thread the easiest way I have found was to go to the soundcloud website and open a free account and post your recordings there with a link to the clip on this or preferably to the virtual AMPEG portaflex club thread. And preface it with it as an entry to the contest. How you get it to the soundcloud web site is up to you using AT's recorder or mtdaw or any other recording software as long as it is done using an iOS based b15
