To me the melody (solo part) would have stood out soooo much better if it was played like two octaves higher. It would have sat in the mix perfectly. But I really enjoyed it. | Thanks! I'll make sure to try that later and see how it fits in. Thanks for the advice!
Cheers!

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on this new unit, and whether it would be better than just having a simple drum machine app (DM1 or Akai's own app) for making beats? I like tactile feel of pads, vs the glass of the ipad, but other than that, I don't know if its a good idea. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MPCFly/

I think they made that one for those out there who must have a piece of equipment to feel as if the are doing and showing to others that they are doing "professional work".
The midi is still being processed and the sounds are coming from the iPad. Not the hardware.
The sweet water video on the page give a good demo of the app on the iPad alone and it seems to be a very good sampler/beat maker with four effectable tracks and the samples of pasted in audio can be used as a pad/beat as a sample and edited too so it appears to be a strong app. But I would not buy the hardware.
But that's me everything that the hardware can do is doable on the iPad alone.
The app alone is in the App Store called akai impc
$6.99

| | So many basses, so little time | | Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Alta Loma, CA | | another question, I'm a keys and bass player, so if I'm looking for an interface, I want to make sure I get midi as well as instrument inputs. so for an interface, I'm evaluating either of the following separate box: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/iConnectMIDI/
or the Alesis iO dock: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/iODock/
and it sounds from folks on here that the iO dock is the preferred way to go to accomplish that. comments?

MF was $50 more (ouch). Methinks it could be due for a refresh, hence the closeout pricing. Typical for me, last in the pool.

A drone feature would be cool too, but if not together maybe a seperate app? I did a search for apps "chromatic tuner" and got over 300 hits. I was hoping some guys here were using something good that they could recommend so I don't have to sift through them all. Thanks guys! |

TC Electronics' Polytune app might be faster, which I think would be more important for fretless.
Neither will match my actual Turbo Tuner pedal, which locks on pitches so quickly, that it's absurd...

I just want to be able to leave it though and not carry it around from home/work etc. If I have my iPad anyway might as well use it. And that Turbo Tuner is unbelievable. Maybe a little expensive at first glance but once you have it you realize it's worth every penny. |

See my edit above. Peterson and TC both sell the software from their popular pedals as apps that run under IOS. Beat the heck out of any of the other apps I've tried.
A bit spendy, but much, much cheaper than any good hardware tuner. |
