One thing I've noticed about AT iOS, is that the compressor in the mastering section is the best compressor in the app.
I've been using there's compressor and tweaking it trying to get a good slap sound, but when I turned it off and started using the mastering compressor, it made a HUGE improvement in dynamics. The red compressor really squishes things fast, the mastering compressor is a lot more transparent.
Yes, I think I commented earlier that I used to use the red comp or the Fender comp, but the mastering comp is way better and have many parameters. I wander what it is based on.

I'm guessing the usual LS1, or whatever the vintage studio comp is called. Good advise on that, glad you said something.
I'm in the process of installing AT Custom Shop on my laptop. Gonna take the plunge and see if it works for me. I'll still be using AT iOS as well, but this will help when the band (or soundguy) can't accept that my killer tone is coming from my iPhone!!!
Here's a clip I recorded this morning using two tracks of bass, both using the B15R in iOS. The clean bass is my Dillion 54 P copy, with just the mastering compression. The melody is played on my MIA P, also with mastering compression, but with the red compressor, chorus, and the Fender overdrive. Just playing with different tones. I'm digging the clean sound I'm getting now, still working on the overdrive. I didn't add the Moller yet.

I guess you are right about that it is could be the LS1.
I also like the reverb and chorus effects in the multitrack recorder. I often use these instead of a stomp box.
Really, Amplitube iOS is not far from "perfect". As I see it the metronome section should include the following:
1) volume adjustment of the metronome sound
2) several metronome tones, such as click, high hat, kick drum.
3) several time signatures, for example 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8
Otherwise, I wish IK will "upgrade" the bass amp which is based on the Ampeg CL to fully endorsed Ampeg CL and added a 8x10" cab to the selection. In addition it will be nice if they add the 2x10" Portaflex cab to Amplitube iOS
AND, now it will be nice if they will port the AD200 with the 8x10" cab to AT iOS!
I think that is they do fix my list I could be happy for a year or so without complaining!
Your clip is very nice, of all of your recordings I've heard it's my favorite!
Thanks. One of these days I'll actually record something for real!
All of my soundcloud clips are really short, basically just tone experiments. I have a home studio in my basement, with a real DAW (an older Roland VS), so doing any serious recording with AT iOS juy seems kind if a waste to me. If I'm trying to record something serious, I usually just use my larger recorder.
I agree about revisiting the CL in iOS. AT iOS has been around for long enough now that they should revamp it a little, definitely giving us an 810.
Recording on Amplitube iOS: Also without amp emulation/ effects
Just wanted to share some experience regarding the use of Amplitube iOS.
It is possible to use the iPad/ iPod/ iPhone to record tracks which are played on real pedals/ hardware.
I've tried in the last week to chase a certain tone by combining my Sansamp PBDDI and my Sansamp Oxford. So, I could use Audacity om my MacBook Pro, but I'll rather use my iPad and Amplitube 8 tracks recorder (which also have great studio chorus, compressor, reverb, flanger and Para-Eq).
I run my PBDDI last in the chain. XLR goes to my mini mixer and then into the power section of my Ibanez 20W bass combo. I pass the preamp by going through the AUX.
So, the volume knob on my mixer control the volume out of my combo. The other 1/4" jack out of my PBDDI goes into my iPad using the iRig interface. I run Amplitube iOS with the effects turned off (in the recorder), so the signal is not processed. I only control in the setup the the inn/ out gain are ok with no clipping.
On this take I use only my PBDDI with blend set on 50% and my Oxford. You could guess, which bass I use, it is easy to hear!

Oh, I know. But given the fact that a few months ago I upgraded my 3GS to the 4S (so AT would work better), ive gotta prove that AT really can do what I tell her it does.
In other words, I've gotta play a gig without my amp and show her that everything I'm experimenting with at home will work in the real world. It helps that she wants an iPad, too.
I did buy one, but it is still on it's way, thus it is the mail system somewhere!
I've also ordered Apogee Jam, actually from the Apple store! So, the Apogee is also on its way.
i thought you may have, because you stopped referring to it as the ipad and started typing ipad/ipad mini.
not to take anything from it but i have the ipad 2 and the way apple is.....ipad mini2 with retina display and more processor and .05 mm thinner will come out in a few months.
im sure you will let us know when it arrives.
hows the processor power compared to the Ipad 2?
do you have the ipad 1 or 2 now?
for christmas this past year (2011) is when i got the ipad2 for my wife and she surprised me with one too (craaazy), and dont you know that like 4 months later tah dah......Ipad 3!
when you plug that apogee in the first time you will be like....."where have you been all my life"
I'm excited for you.

I've an iPad 1. I used Amplitube on my iPod 2 gen. and loved it even though the iPod 2 gen was quite noisy, lacked CPU power and Amplitube iOS was not so stable. Actually one of the iOS updates followed by Amplitube updates made things much better. Even so, I liked Amplitube iOS+iPod gen 2 better then Line6 Basspod XT pro!!
So, I got the iPad which was a HUUUUUGH improvement. So iPad 1 since then (2 years ago?).
Now I've ordered the iPad Mini. Yes Apple will come with iPad Mini 2 soon, but... can bother myself too much about that!
I'm happy I waited a bit on buying iPod 5.... as 2 weeks after I've considered buying iPod 5 the iPad Mini came!
I'm more excited about the Apogee then the iPad Mini though regarding Amplitube!

No but I've posted about this one a short while ago. My guess that it will be better then any of the other devices for iOS and Amplitube. That interface gives you digital sound inn and out, AND there is an headphone amp inside! Not to mention mic preamps etc.

That's what I was thinking, too. The USB connection gives a way to get it into the iPhone, and should give a really clean sound. I might have to try to find one to check out.
After reading all the info on their site, it really looks like the one.
I was planing on buying the iTrack at some point.
I went for the Apogee Jam as I saw it was available at the Apple store and I could buy it without paying for delivery.
The Apogee will give much better sound then the iRig, but you still need to connect the headphones/ PA to the headphone out from the iOS device. Not as good as using the 30pin digital sound out.
So, I plan to buy the iTrack anyway as I need an additional headphone amp in my music room.
