That solved my problem and the problem I was having in Amplitube.
Are you guys able to explain why AMPKIT works with stereo cable into a PA and Amplitube and Jam Up won't? Anyway, time to rock out with the bass package I purchased |

A good band can be without a good guitar player, but can't without a good bass player!
Please write a review, it helps us continue development...

I use an iPhone 4S, and a stereo 1/8" to left and right 1/4" cable. It's a Y cable, not an adapter. I run each to their own channel.
I can run just one and get the same signal, minus the stereo spread, but if I have the available channels I run both.
If you're just using a stereo cable, it would depend on whether your PA has stereo input jacks.

I'm using a stereo cable that has the 1/8" stereo tip on one end and RCA L/R on the other. Plugging it into a Mackie SRM150 powered monitor/3 channel PA speaker. The 3rd channel has a stereo input for the RCA jacks.
I'm technically ignorant with stuff like this. For some reason AMPKIT works fine with both L/R RCA ends plugged in where AT and JampUp won't work unless I pull either the L or R plug. |

The GK amp is spot on from my memory of that amp. I've owned 4 GK amps and this modeled version is very impressive. The SVT is a much more accurate and satisfying model than what AT2 has. The SWR is really sweet sounding. I think the b15 in AT2 is better but that might just be because they modeled theirs on the reissue. I've never played through a real B15 so I can't say how accurate it sounds.
The Mutron pedal is awesome and sounds funky with plenty of sleaze. The sansamp pedal does sound like the sansamp pedal I own.
The looper is awesome and I messed around a bit and found it to be very intuitive and I quickly created a 3 part 2 bar loop. I can see getting lost with this feature and playing longer. The song looper is as good as the one in AT2. Actually it is a bit better because it imports the track faster and doesn't make a WAV copy eating up memory on your iPhone.
All in all, I think this is the best iOS app available at the moment and I think I'll be making this my go to app. They will be supporting the upcoming AudioBus feature which is going to be another killer feature.
AT2 and Ampkit have been served and it will be interesting to see what they come up with for us bass players! |

I'm running the free version but I bought the BDDI in app. It sounded pathetic before, but now the low end is MASSIVE through headphones. I haven't tried it through the PA yet. The highs are really clear and the mids are sweet if you're careful not to scoop them as per the BDDI's normal settings.
One thing that's really cool about Jamup: the noise filter pedal doesn't destroy the sound. In fact, other than the noise disappearing, you can't even tell the pedal is on!!
I can't wait to fire this pedal up with a drummer. I can see it working as well as Amplitube for live use, but how do you record in Jamup? | Exactly what I thought, the Jamup sound good now. As you say, the BDDI sound like a BDDI! Big warm low, nice top. Jamup really came with some "bug fixes"! |

And HOLY CRAP WHERE DID THIS APP COME FROM?!?!?
Jamup used to be that app on my phone that I kept because I paid $3 for a crappy BDDI wannabe. Now, since yesterday's "bug fix" update, this is the best sounding amp sim of the bunch.
The lows are the tightest of them all (AT, AmpKit, PocketGK)!! All the other apps just got their butts kicked by the underdog. I'll be using this A LOT!!
I couldn't stop playing with the Mutron, it's fantastic. And by adding the noise filter pedal at the front of the chain, the signal is crystal clear and there's no high end destruction like in Amplitube.
I haven't jumped into the looper yet, but I'm excited. Tomorrow is another day. But holy crap this thing sounds so good now!!
My chain is simple, the noise filter -> BDDI->Mutron and I'm psyched!! Now if I could just record it. |

I am also amazed by this underdog. I have the bass pack pluss some more, but there was something missing from the toe of all the units. But it seems like Positive grid fix this "minor bugs"!
Maybe we have all along been talking to the wrong "partner".
We should have given Jamup / Positive grid more chance and more dialog with Positive grid as they were actually the only one to give us an extensive bass pack!
Now Thinking about Jamup Pro XT, now that Positive Grid have vastly improved the emulation/ tone we can look at the other features:
1) It could be nice to have separate cabs and mics but if they give us more bass gear as it is I'm fine, as the main thing is the tone. Thus if the solution is integrated (like in a Sansamp!) then fine. Maybe demanding various cabs an mics is not so important if the emulation takes care of it. Sansamp do the same thin as we know with the speaker sim.
2) Recorder, this is the main "weak point" in positive grid. I would like to have a multitrack recorder. And the possibility to export dry or wet track.
3) More advanced metronome.
4) The song looper could be better, like in AT and the GK app.
That is it. Actually! |

This update so thoroughly changed Jamup that there really isn't much to ask. The recorder is pretty much non-existent, but the looper is so dang cool that it'll be awhile before I finish learning that, so there's plenty of time!!
I'm gonna email Positive Grid and tell them about this thread. Maybe we can get THEM to step up and be our voice when it comes to iOS DI solutions, since IK isn't interested in our suggestions. |
