Since I already had my iPad on stage for the charts, it would have been a breeze to run an audio app in the background and leave my cab, head, stand, cable bag, etc., at home... |

Not very elegant, but it gets the job done, I guess...
"Please do note that AmpliTube Free and AmpliTube Full are regarded as two separate app versions all together. If you made an in-app purchase in AmpliTube Free, the purchase does not carry over to AmpliTube Full.
You would have to buy the in-app purchases separately for AmpliTube Full. If you wish to do so, you can request a refund for the in-app purchases bought in AmpliTube Free.
All in-app purchases are handled exclusively by the Apple App Store, through your iTunes Store account, also known as your Apple ID.
Please contact Apple's App Store support to request a refund by visiting: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact
Explain to them what happened, show them your receipts to show a duplicate purchase, and they will be able to reimburse your iTunes account. " |

So he was playing and buying not knowing it was adding to the account. I set up a call and a real person called my cell number i gave in minutes. They told me there was a one time event where they would help us with this and refunded the money to the account.....needless to say.... I deleted this game.
So....... If we're going to buy the full iPad version I would think they would understand and refund you the money so you could turn around and repurchase again.........maybe.....at least I hope they do that for ya

(So it won't get abused......I think)
But.... we are talking of 1's and 0's so it really is nothing to them as long as we are happy and continue to buy more 1's and 0's

I'm trying to recreate my Amplitube presets in Jamup, and I'm thinking this compressor will work much like the mastering comp in AT.
Anyone? |

I have never had any issues with it at all because I accept what it is, but rather than look at its limitations I look at its applications.
Here is my best one.
I do a lot of shows with supplied backline, in various countries in Europe, and sometimes the term " or equivalent " on my gear rider gets a loose interpretation.
But I have a solution and here it is.
I use a Line 6 G30 transceiver, a 3.5 splitter lead ( two female to singe male), a reduction jack from 6.35 to 3.5, two standard 6.35 jack short cables, an iPod touch ( with Amplitude loaded on ) and a set of Sennheiser in ear bud headphones.
1/The G30 is on the strap, the ipod in the back pocket.
2/From bass it's a standard 6.35 short jack to jack to the iRig.
3/The IRig is into the iPod touch via the hard wired 3.5 jack.
4/Out of the iRig comes the 3.5 splitter, giving me two 3.5 sockets to use.
5/From one splitter I run a standard 6.35 jack short cable with the reduction jack on it to the G30s standard 6.35 input. The base unit of the G30 is located next to the supplied Backline. If i go straight in to a stage box, it is via whatever the engineers want to use. ( DI box etc )
6/From the other splitter I attach the headphones so I can monitor the sound of the bass. The Sennheisers have good drivers in them and an in-line volume control so I control the level, not any engineer.
So I can not only use the iRig and Amplitude in a live situation, I can monitor it as well without using stage monitors which can not always be bass friendly.
I will use that set-up whenever I play Multi-Bill festivals, as it is walk on/walk off, no set up or breakdown required, so it is fast and easy to deal with that situation.
Word of warning.
As has been stated the any add ons to the free version do not transfer to the full paid version, so in essence two separate apps, but the free Fender Bundle is great to have as an option over the Ampeg one on the full version.
Also try and use a transceiver rather than a lead, my first use was with a iPad, not an ipod, and I pulled the iPad over when I ran out of lead...easy down as sometimes the weight of the hanging lead can pull over an iPad never mind an iPod. So the iPod was a compromise that actually worked out better in the end.
Remember an iPod or iPad is a software based computer, so a magnetic field will disrupt it, so having it close to a large stage rig may cause problems....I learned the hard way.
I finished a show and for convenience I hid my strap, iRig and iPod in the back of the Guitarists open back 2x12 cab............the magnetic field of the speakers has white screened my iPod touch and it cannot be repaired.
So remember it is still software and as such it can be "lost" if interrupted, and on stage there are many possible electrical field of interruption.
So for me a new iPod touch is on the cards, I may even look for a cheap second hand one just to have amplitude only loaded on it for the specific purpose of using it more often without a rig. |

You confused me a little. I understand your chain, but what is the final result? Are you using the supplied back like or is Amplitube your complete sound, running on the iPod touch? |

The amp sims in the expansion pack still aren't dynamic enough for me on guitar. They don't clean up smoothly enough when I lighten up, and the distortion comes in too late on the tweed models. Generally speaking, I also can't get the fullness of tone I get from Amplitube.
However, I bought the bass pack tonight, and I was pretty impressed with the tones on bass.
I still like Pocket G-K for the most accurate equivalent to my MB800, though. I guess I'm going to be running all 3 apps, at least for now. |

I'm totally addicted to the BDDI and Mutron combination in Jamup!! I spent most of my day yesterday making funky noises!! Gonna try the Redhead today, I think.
The biggest selling point for me is an ultra-clean bass tone. I can add gain later to dirty it up a bit if needed, but for me the tone has to start clean. Up until the update, the closest I'd gotten was the B15R in AT. The Ashdown in AmpKit was CLOSE, but is too boxy sounding for me.
The BDDI is the complete opposite direction, but for me that tone works, too. I'm hopefully gonna have some time this week to play with a drummer, so I'll run all the amps through their paces and see which one holds up to live applications.
PocketGK has always been too hissy for my tastes. |

For the B15R with the Møller and the envelope filter gives me the absolute tone I'm adfter, so Amplitube with this trio and the multitrack recorder have the slight edge on JamUp. But seeing the effort and willingness from Positive Grid is just as important! |

Anyone? | As you have already seen, I gave the Tube Comp a little run. It seem to be a nice compressor/ limiter. I think the on in AT is better, thus more open and detailed. But this one is nice as well, and doesn't seem to color the tone too much! |

I didn't spend a ton of time in JamUp last night, so I'll have to give it some more familiarization time, and maybe play with levels a bit more. |

The bddi into the svt or redhead would be killer.
Also....... wouldn't you know it as soon as i got it.... it went off sale. they were offering it for 75% off after thanksgiving. Maybe they will have a christmas sale.....
after watching the video on the P&WBB club about Jesse Reeves.... minimizing my effects and just getting a great amp sound is probably a good way to go for me and playing into the room i play in all the time. if i could get a great svt or redhead sound that would be enough for me. ive been trying too hard with the compressors and all here as of late and i would like to simplify again.
