The blend on the BDDI is:
The settings on the OR30 are
Otherwise i choose the blend on the BDDI according to the use. If I use the BDDI as an amp then the blend will be between 75-100%.
On my PBDDI I have one channel on 100% and on SVT settings. The 2nd channel on 80% and B15 settings. The third channel is on the picture as I use it with my Oxford.
+1, Glad to hear it's nothing serious and I hope your wife is doing well also. Pass on best wishes from anonymous Talkbass friends for us.
Your recordings sound pretty good, I also checked out your Apogee track in your signature. You mentioned being away from home, so I assume you're recording on your iPad? Are you using the recorder in Amplitube? I've also (very briefly) messed around with the recorder in Garage Band.
5sg.
I've used the sampler on Jamup for my Hotel room medley, and I've my iPad mini with me
The recorder on AT is the best, and it is what I've used most of the time. I use the recorder on GB only if I add midi tracks: http://soundcloud.com/duke21/some-other-day
On the next one I've played two basses, one playing root notes, the other one chords, and midi (GB touch instruments as well): http://soundcloud.com/duke21/agdf
But I can't really play other instruments then the bass,....
Currently getting set for for a Christmas concert rehearsal and my first Amplitube test run!
Pbass V w/ Chromes > iRig/Amplitude > DI > house board with a Hearback monitor system.
So far it's working pretty well... We'll see what happens when things get started. We've got a pretty big crew, so I'm interested to see how it'll work. Twenty vocalists, flute, cello, violin, an Irish pipes player, aux percussion, drums, timpani, three horn players and myself! Trial by fire for Amplitube! :-)
Last night's experiment: ran my EMG-equipped 5-string into my iPhone 5, via the Apogee Jam and Shure 425-SE's.
I didn't try them back to back, but I didn't hear any big differences between the apps on the iPhone, and my iPad 2.
Call me shallow, but hearing the G-K and Amplitube tones coming out of my little smartphone seemed even more impressive than with the iPad.
I've got a rehearsal tonight with JamHub (darn, I hate that thing!). I always put something in front of the JamHub to try and dial in a more pleasing tone. Lately it's been my G-K MB800, but tonight I'm going to try using my 'phone.
Got JamUp and Apogee Jam running into an iPad. I'm not a big effects guy, but I coaxed a clean, compressed, and tube preset. Like the jam mode for practicing in the den with iTunes songs/downloads. Fun.
Successful rehearsal tonight. Used Pocket GK, and it worked really well.
Just like on a live stage, I had to dial in a tighter sound with more treble than sounds good soloed.
The bit of compression inherent in the app was useful. My bass has a pretty hot output (18V EMG's), and it prevented it from overloading the JamHub's input.
No noise, no weird artifacts, ample battery life. It was all good...

Nice to hear. And the GK can get a bit hissy if one crank the boost on the G.I.V.E channel, so the fact that you had no noise is superb. I actually haven't tried the GK app after getting the Apogee Jam.
I see you mentioned compression on several occasions. I'm not really bothered by some compression as my tone is always with some OD, thus compression as well. But, I thin that is you record something with the Apogee Jam, thereafter switch to a good DAC and headphone amp conncted to the iPhone/ iPad with a 30pin interface you will hear that the sound is a bit more open then hearing the sound through the headphone socket.
Came back form Tromsø yesterday. Its only 250km drive but the temperature was under 20 deg. Celsius and the road were covered by ice and snow. In addition it is darkness time noe here north to the polar circuit. So I was not really full of energy etc when I came home. But after a 30min jogging trip and a shower (and a glass of Shiraz... ) I wanted to try something on the bass. So I tried the BDDI in front of several amps, and here are two clips: https://soundcloud.com/duke21/jamup-bddi-and-b15
and https://soundcloud.com/duke21/jamup-bddi-and-marshall-800
It will not surprise some of you that I liked the Marshall - BDDI thing a bit better...

That's awesome! PocketGK wouldn't have been my first choice, as its the noisiest of the bunch, but I'm glad it worked for you.
I've been dying to try one of those JamHubs. Everything I've read about them makes them out to be like a poor mans Aviom. The videos for them look really cool.
I think the compression you're hearing is like Duke says, it's being caused by the output of the iPad. Glad it was able to work in your favor.
Can you post a screen cap of your PocketGK settings?

I'm glad the trip worked out ok for you, hope the wife recovers quickly.
Yeah, I prefer the BDDI/B15 combo, but the Marshall/BDDI would work just as well with the right situation (the right song). I'd save both of them as presets and try them each with a full band.

Thanks Rip.
I guessed you (and most others) will like the B15 with the BDDI better as the Marshall gives a bit "too much" OD and the tone is quite bright and clunky.
I still in a chase after a tone I can get with AT when I use the B15R with the Møller and the envelope filter. The tone I get there is a tone I'm really happy with. Actually I think I haven't recorded anything with this trio combination! This trio is giving me the ultimate Ric sound. So the chase in JamUp is still on, as I'm still exploring the possibilities there.
Regarding JamUp. I miss there a pedal like the envelope filter on AT. Also I will prefer that the BDDI would be placed in the same bank as the compressors but not with other OD/ distortions/ fuzz pedals. I really lobe the combinations of the Sansamp PBDDI with the Bad Monkey in front of it (in order to obtain nicer OD and more mids). So I wish I could use the Tube Screamer in front of the BDDI, something which is not possible today. It would be actually better if they placed the BDDI with the other amps, as the BDDI is more of a preamp/ amp emulation then a OD box.
I usually use 100% blend as well when the BDDI function as an amp. Also, the gain will be between 12 to 13. I generally do not like the OD from the BDDI when the gain is past 13.

Yeah, sounds kinda buzzy. Not really an OD, just noisy.

I like the JamHub in theory. And regardless of its drawbacks, playing through headphones at lower levels forces everybody to work on accuracy and dynamics.
That said, the audio quality is atrocious. The last time I heard thin-sounding preamps with such low headroom, I was using a Tascam Portastudio, and recording to 4-track cassette... And even the Portastudio (this would have been very early '80's) had better headphone amps.

I was wondering how they kept the price so low on these. Now I know.
Just felt like Ampkit deserve some attention, thus giving it s run with Apogee Jam, so here is a little clip.
I use one of my favorite amps is Ampkit which is... the Fergan Super Collider paired with the Trace cab. https://soundcloud.com/duke21/ampkit-revisited-fergen-super
