Iron Ether Frantabit vs HEXE Bitcrusher

Hi

I'm a guitar player but I thought I'd ask what you all thought of these pedals, how they performed for you in terms of features, which you liked more... I'm interested in both but can only have one! The Franta is of course cheaper so that is a plus.

I've seen the demos and both look and sound awesome. I wanted to know if anyone has had or tried both, if so,which they prefer, and also if either is capable of subtler sounds. I know both have Mix/Blend knobs which is something I've wanted in a bit crusher for some time. I like that these circuits can do real noise/crazy damage but I also want to have some subtly to less over the top sounds/ added texture.

Any thoughts, suggestions? Thanks

I have only tried the FrantaBit, and I think it's awesome. Still, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be disappointed either way.

Behndy's let me babysit both for the weekend.
The Hexe is really awesome and has the telephone and trem type features, but it bigger and more expensive.

The IE is pure sex and has a wider range of usable sounds. It wins in my book.

You can get a trem sound with the Frantabit too- I just never know how to get it on purpose I always do it on accident.

haven't used those 2 but i have the other 2 bitcrushers in this vid. the WMD GC Civ Issue w/ Bass Mod & OTO Biscuit.
Battle Of The Bitcrushers - WMD Geiger Counter Hexe Bitcrusher Iron Ether FrantaBit OTO Biscuit - YouTube

personally i think it's hard to go wrong with any of them as they all sound great. it's more a matter of what features & controls are important to you. size, power supply, envelope filters, tone controls, ect..

I've tried the Franta and currently have the Hexe. The Franta is awesome, but I just dug the Hexe more for the modulation and telephone features.

yeah, get a FrantaBit. the Franta has some crazy useful features. the ability to change where the expression pedal goes is GENIUS. so good. there's a ring mod side that's fun, it sounds AMAZING, the knob layout is perfect.

the Hexe is nice, but it's bigger, it's $95 more, the modulation on it's kinda useless..... Franta's definitely the way to go.

i didna dig on the modulation, but BC's right. the telephone high pass feature is the only thing better on the Hexe than the Franta. but overall, i like the Franta WAY better.

Thread derail sorta!

I have a Franta coming tomorrow and was thinking I'd put it before my other dirts/fuzz, but I have no experience with crushing bits so if anyone wants to advise feel free!

I keep my Franta after all my fuzz and filter and before my modulation/delays.

I ran into this debate a few months ago... Opted to have a friend build me a BugCrusher because I didn't want to go digital

Why wouldn't you want to go digital? All real bitcrushing is digital.

But analog bits are so much fatter and warmer than digital bits!

I got my Heliotrope fancied up so now I have expression control over the sample rate. But I still want to try a FrantaBit. Oh the gas.
