Just finished my new pedalboard setup.

I just bought a Pedal Power 2 Plus so I can now run all my
pedals. The ole TU2 just couldn't go the distance when I
added the MXR Bass Auto Q.
I also used the "Planet Waves Pedal Board Cable Kit" for
three of the connections. The connections screwed together
easily and so far they're working great.

How does it sound?
I did some quick A/B tests using a Morley ABY going
into a Presonus Firestudio soundcard.
There is a little tone suck but well within my tolerance for
live use.
By the way, the BBE helps to even the score a little. It does
change the sound a bit, but in a nice way.
When comparing the Direct sound with the Pedalboard sound
(all effects off of course). I now like them both just fine.
For recording, I blend a mic'd amp with a DI anyway, so any
tone suck is not an issue at all.

Let the fun begin,
Talkbass rules!

Is it a home-made pedalboard ?
If not, where did you buy it ?

Nice setup BTW.

Why is your tuner near the end of your signal chain? Or did I miss something? What is the advantage?

funkyzebulon,
I bought that pedal board around 15 years ago at a local music
store here in Nashville. It's been in my attic for the last 10
years. I broke it out to fit in my new stuff.

After talking to the many fine guitar players here in Nashville,
I have heard repeatedly that the TU2 can load down passive
pickups when placed first in the signal chain. This can really
reek havoc on the highs and lows.
Just put it behind any pedal and all is well.
I put it third in the pecking order simply for
convenience.

This is the order I chose:

Boss OC3 ~ MXR Bass Auto Q ~ Boss TU2 ~MXR Blowtorch(mild Crunch)
MXR Bass DI(Heavy Dist)~Boss Bass Chorus~BBE Sonic Stomp

All the best,
Rick

Very nice, and neat. I also discovered how the Sonic Stomp can bring some life back into a long fx chain. I was a skeptic, but hearing is believing. My TU-2 is 7th in my chain, also for convienence.

The Blowtorch is my favorite pedal.
It's true bypass and the direct signal is
uneffected by the EQ.
This way you can add a little midrange fur
to your sound without changing the sound of
your lowend.

I like the Bass Q as well. The shimmer feature
is unique and it's built like a tank.
I wish it was true bypass however.

I can't really figure out why the buffer in Boss' TU2 would load down your pickups any more or less than the buffer in Boss' OC3 or any other Boss pedal. I could be wrong, though. I'm not trying to start buffer quality war, I'm just saying that I think a bypassed TU2 and a bypassed OC3 are going to sound the same. Your board looks really nice, though; if it sounds good, don't futz with it.

You make a good point. Since I don't know about
the inner workings of Boss products I can only go
by what I and others hear.

It could be as simple as the fact that many of Boss'
pedals have a volume for make up gain like the OC3.
This could give the false appearance of being cleaner than the
TU2.

Not sure. Best thing to do is to hook up your stuff
and do some controlled A/B tests to decide is there
is a difference.

no, we're talking about bypassed pedals, aren't we?

Anyway, I've never heard the TU-2 affect my tone.

Your right about that. I'm playing a few gigs this week with some
session guitarists that swear it's true, but I'll try to get them
to clarify their opinion.

I'll try to report back what they say.

All the best,
Rick
