Just got a Bass Big Muff!

Sign in to disble this ad
For my birthday I got an Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff pi pedal!

I'm about to finally try it out and was seeing if there are any suggestions for some good settings to try out?

I'm pleased with the construction of it. I had a bass microsynth pedal before and thought it was well built, just sold it on ebay cuz i couldnt really find a practical use for it lol.

so what should i try out??

i like to do...
norm mode, vol to taste, tone at 2 oclock, and sustain at 2 oclock.

and the drymode kicks too. i liked tone at 3 oclock and sustain at 12ish for this.

not a huge fan of boost mode though, too many low-mids for me.

contrats on the great pedal

Jaco - There is only one bass big muff...and yes, it's based upon a Russian version.

OP - What bass and head/cab are you playing out of

just the regular green one.

im really digging this! my distortion/fuzz experience prior to this began and ended with my Boss ODB-3. i just can not get a tolerable sound out of that.

Boost mode rocks! I just crank the sustain and tone to full, but I run mine into an ODB-3, which I also crank, then into an Ibanez Weeping Demon, with a Whammy IV first, to make some messed up noises. Otherwise, I'll usually roll the sustain and tone back to the 1/2 o clock region for a more cliff burton-esque tone with my Weeping Demon.

Settings: usually with any muffiant I start with everything at 12"O"clock and go from there, more bass or more treble, more or less gain. On the BBM also mess with the setting switch.. See if you want clean blended in, or more bass or the more bass with the tone adding more treble and whatnot.
