hey I am looking at getting one too because I want to use it with guitar.

Is it cool for bass?

Better than MT-2?

I used one for bass, once, a long (sic) time ago (2005...). I used it with one of those crappy little Drive headphone amps that plug into the guitar/bass and then right into headphones. I plugged it into the DS-1, and the played it.

As i remember, it sounded awesome. I was considering one for my current rig, but funds ran short. I'll see about it as soon as i have more.

Its a cool pedal for certain sounds. Lots of low mids, but can be a bit light on the lows. The tone knob is interesting, I find that unless its on the absolute minimum the tone is really harsh. I've got some really nice tones using them for recording but can never make it fit with the band live, but often use one in front of my overdrive for certain parts I want to be really heavy.

i love my ds-1 and to me i cant hear any significant loss of low end, and for $40 new its kind of hard to pass up

my current settings are tone- 10:30ish, dist- maxed, and level varies( kind of a preference thing)

I also have a DS-1 (totally stock!) and also love it on bass. And really, they're cheap enough, even new, for just about everyone to have one around for those special moments...

I use it on guitar too. Settings pretty much stay on 9:00 on the tone knob and about 4:00 on the distortion knob and level to match the bypassed level.

Circuit bent DS-1 is loads of fun. I had a thread about it a while back, search my name then look in that one for Malekko's picture, sounds bad in a good way.

You know, i may just have to get another one. The price is right, too, and if i don't use it i'll just throw it in the box-'o-pedals
