Just got an Ibanez SB7

And it nails that Rosetta Stoned part that JC does with the BR2 (except you don't need pickups that are so hot the EPA has them listed on the National Priorities List - which is why I sold my BR2...and the construction was crap).

These clips are right on:
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/produc.../page/sb7.html

I have not had enough time to give it a full review (will come) but the initial impressions are that I love this thing. Exactly the type of autowah I wanted. Bypass is pretty good - I used to be a True bypass only guy...I've given up, but I still want good buffered bypasses.

Not sure why this gets so little chat here, while the Digitech BSW gets so much love - I don't care much for the BSW. The SB7's synth sounds are very organic and analog sounding AND usable.

Before I picked up a Tone-Lok delay (for $45 new - GREAT delay BTW) I thought the locking knobs was kinda gimmicky...now I love it. One reason I sold my Micro Q-tron was because there was a VERY narrow range in the knob travel that I liked the sound of, and I would have to waste time trying to relocate it every time I moved my pedal board (the knobs would always get spun during transport). Not a problem with these Ibanez pedals.

This being my second Ibanez Tone-Lok, I am really impressed with the sound these cheap pedals put out. I actually prefer them to all the Boo-Teek stuff I used to play that cost way more.

Sorry for the scattered post, I'll give a full review when I have time.

The SB7 is analog and tracks awesomely, and I think it's a great buy for the money.

+1! A much better buy than the Digitech BSW IMHO. Bought the Digitech then sold it. Then bought it again because everyone raved so much about it. Then sold it again because I was right first time!

There's no tracking going on in the SB7 - it's just a series of filters. So you can play chords, pure noise, whatever - it doesn't need to know what note you're playing.

That's what I meant, I should have worded that differently. I've owned one or two SB7's over the years.

I think I'll be picking one of these up again I always considered it a poor man's Crowther Prunes & Custard but its just that little bit more wild that will make it quite fun for all the stuff I'm planning but I'll see I've got some more filters and fuzz pedals coming so hopefully something will get close.

But excellent pedal with some excellent features for a stupidly low price.

I think the differences between the BSW and SB7 are huge asnd personally think that there is room for both on a board they do vastly different things but I bet together you could get some killer tones.

I'll let you know when I find a cheap one.

Cheers
