Just plopped down $75 for a Small Stone phaser for my band's cover of Stranglehold. Commitment or stupidity? Ah heck, I love the sound of the pedal. I'll find other uses for it!

I have pedals on my board that sometimes go weeks without a stomp. When I want them they're there.

I've heard Stranglehold played on a bass without a phase shifter, and it just plain needs one.

I've never heard Stranglehold, but if it absolutely needs it, then it's completely justified. I'm assuming it'd be like Sledgehammer without an Octaver.

dude I bought a full size POG and a dunlop rotovibe for one song in one gig. I even managed to break a prong from the 24v PSU of the POG while carrying it that night..

I say commitment!

Agreed, I played it years ago in a band without a phaser and it just didn't sound right.

I've done stuff like that before. It's commitment! Not stupidity...

Most of the pedals in my board are only used for 2-3 songs. If you like it then buy it. At least that's what the voice in my head tells me.

I've got an EHX bass balls that I bought for 60 bucks. In my bands upcoming album I literally use it for one note. Hope that makes you feel better

+1

I was telling my drummer about the pedal and he said I need to get an all-in-one bass effects unit. Drummers...

Spreading the Nuge should be a capital offense.

Just kidding, sort of.

I've gone that route only to realize that I need more control over the parameters of every single effect I use. it may seem like a lot, but I've spent more money on dumber things

When drummers make suggestions about bass effects or tone I just smile and nod.

I bought an MXR Phase90 just to play Stranglehold. Glad I bought it, and I still own it even though I don't play that song with my current bands. It's a cool effect to have on hand, for sure.

Yep. Multi-pedals have lots of effects, but it seems no single effect is as good as the better individual pedal models. I'd rather spend more and get the good pedal!

I've done the same.....bought a delay for one song(one of these days..Pink Floyd)...I'll probably never use it for anything else but,I won't get rid of it either..It'll sit in my box of other un-used effects until I need it for another time..at least the small stone has multiple uses and the depth switch is a cool feature...
