It seems like it would be easier to do with a Kaoss Pad 1 or 2 as the KP3 has a more complex touch screen/LED setup. The Kaoss Pad Quad might also work, but it's severely limited in terms of the number of effects available.

Possible: of course. Worthwhile: that's up to you. It's going to require huge modifications to the body of your instrument which have the potential to go horribly wrong. If you feel competent, adventurous or have someone you trust and are willing to pay to do it, go for it.

If you're unsure about doing the mods, my suggestion would be to get a miniKP and velcro it to your bass. It won't look as cool (no light up screen and, you know, velcro), but it'll function similarly.

1. Buy a Mini-KP
2. Mount on your bass
3. ????
4. PROFIT

I just read the OP's question of putting on the Kaoss Pad as being putting it on the Bass's signal, as opposed to (him/her/it) actually mounting the KP on the bass physically.

I know whatsit Bellamy from Murse does it, but is that what the OP was asking ?
I've not noticed any "loss of lows" when using the KP-3
It has some good effects onboard, but I'm not sure how much advantage you could take of it, whilst also playing guitar ?
