Keeley 2 knob vs. Analogman 2 knob

Thinking of ordering a compressor stomp,
Simple, 2 knob, true bypass

I think the EBS made a 2 knob stomp too,

Looking for something to keep in my signal chain, set it and leave it, for subtle compression, all the time..
Anybody ever compare them?

I can tell right off the bat that a Ross-based comp will suck your lowend (keeley).
I recommend a Demeter Compulator.

Seriously, looking at your profile I think you want something high end.

Swift is right!

But i really enjoyed my Demeter Compulator (review on ovnilab), but then got a TLC (review), which is incredible.

If you're really set on two knobs, hit the demeter. If you want more control and absolutely no tone coloration, do the TLC.

Thanx
Looking for something with a decent preset effect that's suitable for bass.
The compulator was also a contender, the others I mentioned are best for guitar, I guess.
Any other simple comp's like this?
The Demeter is one I need to examine, thanx.

If it's subtle compression that you're after, the EBS certainly should be in the mix.

The problem with compression and having a "preset sound" is that what works well for one person probably won't work well for 99% of other bassists. Compression is incredibly subjective, even more so than dirt, from what I have seen. You will be better of picking up a somewhat more involved unit and actually learning how to use it properly than just buying the simplest compressor you can find. You probably won't need to mess with it much, so once you have a setting that works well, you can just kind of keep it there.

I really love the Maxon CP9. It does have 3 knobs but it's not hard to dial in. It can be very subtle if that's what you want and it will not color your tone at all.

If I could have one Christmas wish for all the bass-playing boys and girls around the world, it's that magically all 2-knob compressor pedals would sprout input-gain controls or threshold controls, along with an LED to show when the threshold is crossed.

The EBS is almost there, but its threshold controls are inside the pedal body, and hard to figure out. The Maxon CP9Pro+ and the Aggie TLC are all the way there. There are others, but most are larger, with more knobs.

What about the EBS multiple comp?
Vs the Demeter ..
Either one better in terms of retaining low end?
Comparisons?.. Anyone owned both?
These two seem ok, I'm not picky, just wanna retain the low end, no noise issues..
I set it subtly and leave it.. To iron out my overall level, all the time.. Buy very subtly, or else I lose the dynamics..

For subtle, "leave on all the time" compression I went with bongo's recommended Durham Electronics Sexdrive: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/durham.shtml

It's wonderful, just don't let your guitarist try it or you'll never get it back!

Diamond. Best pedal comp I have ever used. I have the original guitar version and think its just perfect but the bass version is available and has more headroom and the eq is tuned a bit different. I prefer the guitar version as its 9 volt powered, never runs out of headroom for me and sounds incredible!

There are reviews of most available pedal compressors on Bongomania's site from someone who has owned or used them all at some point, and also many comparisons when they are useful.

I personally use a BBE Opto Stomp and am very happy with it for it's subtle effect, simple two control setup, relative transparency, and low price. About the only thing I wish is that it came in a smaller MXR-sized case...

Thanks, lots of choices I see. The EBS and the Demeter seem like the top two at this point, the ( the Aguilar does look nice too.. I'm also considering it)

Of the three, I wonder if there is
any noticeable size or weight difference..
I like small and light, too.. They all look compact though..

The Demeter sounds great but I had trouble with it distorting from a very hot bass which left me with very little usable range of compression settings. It also picked up noise from the daisy chain power supply I was using, evidently due to it's reverse polarity.
The EBS was quite decent but I found the Maxon CP9pro+ more transparent and easier to dial in.

Ok I need to look into the Maxon too,
I'm not picky, really..
The one knob compression they build into amps are fine for me, I keep it low, as long as the signal doesn't degrade, and noise isn't an issue.

I had a Compulator and it didn't do much for me.
Got the EBS and it's perfect. I'm not compressor-savvy enough to fully know why - but the EBS really works for me.

I think the EBS is a fine pedal (so was the Compulator) but I had ordered both the EBS and Maxon to a/b them and the Maxon was perfect for me right out of the shoot. With the EBS I couldn't decide between the modes, it seemed like they all had strengths and weaknesses. I could imagine having the Maxon for a pristine tone and the EBS for the tube sim but that's over $400 in compression and totally unnecessary.

I liked the cheap one knob circuit in the old Peavey TNT combos, I grew up with one, it worked well.. Enough.
every once in a while there's one at a gig..
