Any tips for keeping pedalboard, bass, amp, and cabs safe from the heat, humidity, & theft at a weekend music festival?

Mods feel free to move this.

Theft is easy. Don't leave your gear or leave it with someone you trust.

yeah- I'm probably going to go and check out some of the other bands too though- plan on leaving my gear locked in my car covered up- but that raises concerns of high temperatures…

Temperatures shouldn't be an issue. You may have to make adjustments as needed to your basses. Try to park under a tree and leave your windows cracked a bit. It might be a good idea to get some silica gel packs and put those in your cases to reduce humidity.

Yeah, leave the windows cracked a bit so the thieves don't have to break your car window.

Rratajski offered great advice, if you can find someone willing to babysit the gear while you check out the scene.

I left the windows cracked a bit, put my rain coat and a tapestry over my gig bag to reduce the direct sunlight hitting it, had a silver reflector thing in my front window to also try and stop solar heating. I set my pedal board flat so that if the glue heated up the pedals wouldn't slide (learned about that at last year's festival, where pedal board was hung on the wall in the trailer- lots of pedals slid part-way off of their velcro strips, and once the temps are down the glue re-hardened in the new position- with the pedals partially slid off- a total pain.)

I also went by a couple times a day and rolled the windows down and ran the AC just to let the accumulated heat blow off. The last thing- get to your stage an hour ahead of time to give your axes some time to acclimate to the ambient temperature.

The instrument itself is the one I'd worry most about...depending on the setting, maybe leave the rest of the gear locked up and carry the bass around with you in a gig bag while you check out other bands...???

Whatever you do do not - I repeat - DO NOT - read THIS: Portugal. The Man's van stolen from attended lot after Lollapalooza set | Music | Newswire | The A.V. Club Chicago

It'll give you no hope whatsoever of protecting your goodies.
