Find a used whammy xp100 or whammy IV. I guess the BP120 or whatever might work too. The whammy IV is the one I would recommend the most. And get a Boss DD-3 for the delayed parts.

Octave Up. That's it. Anything that can do +1 octave will work, but the expression pedal on the whammy 4 and XP100 make it easy to on/off the effect.

He uses a Bass whammy with a delay set to only do one repeat. Get a used Digitech Whammy just so you can do that one part in one song

Are you sure? A shot of his board was posted some time ago and it didn't include a Bass Whammy

Doesn't mean he didn't use one.

i think chronicle means you CAN use one and just didn't word it right, i believe he made a sample using one which sounded pretty damn good. but yeah, its been seen live jared uses an ME-50

But all the replies ring true, anything that can flex your signal up 1 octave will do you fine

If you want a tonne of features, go the eventide pitch factor, if you don't think you'll use all of those features/have pedals that already do them, get a whammy or other pedal. Or if you need to have the exact gear, get a Boss ME-50

i think we need to address this first.. in the recording, it is clearly a guitar. the bass is doing something different entirely and matt is not shy of the whammy pedal

Well regardless of what Leon used, anyone can do it with a pitch shifter that uses a pedal. By the time you find out exactly what it is, you could have practiced it and got it down on whatever crap pitch shifter you've got laying around
