The Klaxons' Secret Unlocked

i think i found the way to get the perfect klaxons tone. a bad monkey followed by a big muff.

i did it on accident and was just in shock at the sound. it is a very synth sound and i am just tickled at how cool it sounds.

Spookyily enough, I just used my Supercollider for the first time in band situation yesterday and the amp in the practice room wasn't loud enough, so I ended up using my Badder Monkey to boost in front of it. I was also using it to achieve a synth bass sound for the first time and it contained insane amounts of badassery. I imagine it would have sounded similar to your setup since the Supercollider is supposed to be Muffish in tone.

The mid hump of the the BM helps to counteract the mid-scoop of the BM (I just realised that acronyms are a poor choice when talking about these 2 pedals together, but what the heck!).

I ran a modded Ibanez TubeScreamer into my Robot Factory White Russian (highly expanded Big Muff clone), and got one of the sickest fuzz tones I've ever heard.

wow. ran a sansamp bddi through a boss hyper fuzz. thanks for the suggestion. love the sound of it. it looks like everyone so far has gotten favorable results with various overdrives and fuzzes. id be interested to hear the difference though. will contribute clips after what i assume will be a long tech support call to digidesign tomorrow.

Sounds cool. The Klaxon's were using one of my mate's studios as a practice space for a while whilst they were writing. I'll have to ask him what was on their pedal boards.

No promises lol (was a while ago and he's a guitard rather than a bass freak) but I'll ask next time I see him...
