That could just as easily be the Marshall head, but after spending some time playing with midrangey OD blocks in the Ultra, that's what I think I hear. At the very least, a mix with the straight-ahead amp sound and the Animato.
Still, that's splitting hairs. A good amp with the preamp tubes relatively cranked, a good helping of high mids and a Ric will get you there, close enough for any setting. |

The marshall heads do not get that break up type sound. Mine is slightly modified with an old 1960's Telefunken tube in the preamp. Makes things buttery, but never breaks up. |

I'll just go ahead and leave this here: YouTube - Knights Of Cydonia (Bass) ~ Muse
Make sure you switch to 480 to give as much of the finger as is (for practical purposes) possible to YouTube's audio converters. |

I do want to point this out. That treble smack in the clip is NOT THE ANIMATO!!!! That is the Ric sound coming through the pedal.
The animato is featured in Hypermusic, and is less clanky than this one. |

I don't use the pedal - I don't like it sounds. But that's just me, doesn't have to be you. |
