Korg DTR-2000 rack tuner. "lights up gear below"?

Sign in to disble this ad
The Korg site says the 2000 model tuner somehow lights up gear below it. Yet, I see no pull out lights, or anything that sticks out far enough to light anything up at all.

Does anyone have the 2000 model and can verify what they mean?

Also, the Korg site shows the DTR series in all black now instead of the silver and black of previous years.

Anyone buy either the 1000 or 2000 recently and get the black? Many mail order sites show the silver pictures. I'm just wondering if I will get the black when I order somewhere.

Sorry for all the questionz.

The "light up the gear below" feature is indeed a light. No, it's not a pull out light. The tuner itself has a slightly curved faceplate that sticks out from a typical rack by a half-inch or so. This gives just enough overhang for Korg to mount a light under the tuner. Engage the light, and a soft blue-white light will wash down the face of the racked gear below the tuner.

Be aware it is not a terribly bight light, and due to it's lack of projection, does not do a fantastic job of lighting up your amp knobs. In fact, any knob or button will tend to cast long dark shadows down. This makes reading labels rather difficult. This is not a "light up half the stage" kind of light. This is more a "Oh, I can see the knobs on my amp" kind of light. Handy, if it's really dark in the club, but that is about it.

Yes, they come in black now. I bought mine about four months ago from MF and while the pic showed silver/black the unit came all black.
