Does anyone know if these are the same as the Korg mini-KPs? They seem to have been released only in Japan and maybe the UK (they're on the Korg UK site). They look exactly the same to me. The mini-KPs are also on on the Korg UK site.

Link here.

I read a promo blurb in Keyboard Magazine if I remember correctly. I think it's just based on the synth presets on the KP3. They use the Radius engine to make synth patches you control with the X/Y pad. If you're looking for an effects unit I think you would want the mini-KP.

The Kaossilator is a synth, while the mini-KP is an effects unit with a couple of synths on it. Personally I'd just get a KP3, the Mini-KP was disappointing.

I love my KP3. That said, I wish it had some of the synth options available on the Kaossilator. For instance I'm a little miffed there's no scale or arpegiator option on the KP3.

Then again, it's disappointing there's no midi control for the Koassilator. I've been looking for a standalone arpeggiator for a bit and this is so close...

Here's a good youtube video.

phew, GAS is gone for this one.

I don't think these even have 1/4" in/outputs...not that an adapter couldn't fix that but what I'm getting at is that it's generally not used for guitar or bass.

Would it work if you ran it into your effects loop on an amp? (with the correct adapter of course)

I was thinking just putting it on a table with a synthesizer or something. Definately sounds like a cool unit.

It looks like it works the same way as the Haken Continuum.
