Question Korg Pandora Abbreviations

Sign in to disble this ad
Could anyone decipher Pandora's amps and cabs abbreviations (what brand&model simulation)? There are tips in manual but i just don't get them.

Amps:
VALVE* - A vacuum tube bass amp with the ULTRA LO switch turned ON.
VALVE2 - A vacuum tube bass amp ideal for rock.
CLASSIC - A vacuum tube bass amp whose basic character changes according to the setting of the value dial.
SCOOPED - A bass amp that is typical of 80’s sounds.
LA STUD* - A bass amp that is typical of the LA sound.
GOLDPNL - A bass amp distinctive for its eye-catching gold panel and clean sound.
JAZZ - A combo bass amp favored by jazz bassists.
STUDIO* - A vacuum tube combo bass amp ideal for the Motown sound.
AC100 - A 100W vacuum tube bass amp made by Vox. (OK that one is obvious)
UKMAJOR - A 200W vacuum tube bass amp made in the UK.

Cabs:
LA 4X10 - Four 10-inch speakers / LA sound cabinet model for bass.
MDN4X10 - Four 10-inch speakers / modern-type cabinet model for bass.
MTL4X10 - Four 10-inch aluminum-cone speakers / modern cabinet model for bass.
CLS8X10 - Eight 10-inch speakers / classic-type cabinet model for bass.
UK 4X12 - Four 12-inch speakers / UK-manufactured cabinet model for bass.
STU1X15 - One 15-inch speaker studio combo cabinet model for bass.
JAZ1X15 - One 15-inch speaker jazz combo cabinet model for bass.
AC 2X15 - Two 15-inch speakers / cabinet model for AC100.
US 2X15 - Two 15-inch speakers / US-manufactured cabinet model for bass.
UK 4X15 - Four 15-inch speakers / UK-manufactured cabinet model for bass.
LA 1X18 - One 18-inch speaker / LA sound cabinet model for bass.

I own a korg "toneworks" ax3000b and it has the same bass amp and cab models as the korg pandora. korg usually hints what the amp and cab models are modeled after in the owner's manual. perhaps I could help you out on what they're modeled after.

valve and valve2 are modeled after a modern day ampeg svt. the only difference between the two is that valve has the ultra lo switch on. and valve2 has the ultra lo switch off. classic is modeled after a 1974 ampeg svt. scooped I believe is modeled after a gallien-krueger 800rb. la studio is possibly modeled after an swr amp. gold panel I'm pretty sure is modeled after an eden-traveler amp. jazz is modeled after a polytone bass amp. studio is modeled after an ampeg b-15 flip top. uk major is definitely modeled after a marshall bass amp. and yes ac100 is modeled after a vox bass amp(which makes it obvious).

here's what I can tell you about the cab models. la4x10 is possibly modeled after an swr 4x10. mdn4x10 is either modeled after a gk 4x10 or a david eden 4x10. mtl4x10 is definitely modeled after a hartke 4x10. cls8x10 is obviously modeled after an ampeg 8x10. uk4x12 is most likely modeled after a marshall 4x12. uk4x15 is also modeled after a marshall bass cab. ac2x15 is modeled after a vox bass cab. us2x15 is modeled after a fender dual showman bass cab. la1x18 is modeled after a mesa-boogie 1x18 cab. jaz1x15 is modeled after an ampeg b-15 bass cab. and stu1x15 is possibly modeled after an swr 1x15 cab. I'm not quite sure what combi is modeled after, but I'm guessing it's korg's own design of a bass cab model.

I'm pretty sure they don't put the actual model names in because they didn't want to pay for the rights. I'm pretty sure that Crystalman is correct for the most part, but I kind of thought that the "JAZZ" model was based on the Acoustic 360(?) that Jaco played.

Anytime, dude. I think bassman1185 was right. the jazz model is modeled after an acoustic 360. I would of thought it might be modeled after a fender bassman because I assumed some jazz bassist uses the fender bassman. I didn't think of the acoustic 360. thanks for letting me know, bassman1185.

I have the RED Pandora.. Love that box for practice!
I thought the JAZZ sound was modeled after the small "Polytone" amps.Perhaps the PolyTone Mini Brute.
Many jazz players used those for years... from listening to the JAZZ Sim on the Pandora, its doesnt sound like an Acoustic 360 by any means.. It has a smaller sound with a 1x12 as its simulated speaker..
The common poly tone amp was a small 1x12 SS amp with a foam grill..Used mostly by guitar players and DB players. I think they made a few models back in the day.. I have no idea what they are up to these days. All though the new ones look nothing like the ones i saw in the 70s or 80s

Are you sure sure that the jazz model is modeled after a polytone bass amp?...I'm not too familiar with that brand, but for now, I'll say that the jazz model is either modeled after an acoustic 360 or a polytone bass amp.

I just know that is sounds nothing like a 360 to me.. I was told that it was a polytone amp about 3 years ago.. but i have no documented proof... it does sound like a small midrangy amp..which i happen to loke so much that i use it most of th etime to practice with since it is precise and easy to hear

Okay. if you're sure about that, I will say that the jazz model is modeled after a polytone bass amp. personally, I like the scooped modeled.
