hey all,
big fan of marlowedk from youtube, he uses a korg pandora PX4D.
i really want one of these pretty much just for the phrase sampler/looper thing and a bit of reverb. could anyone tell me, as i've not been able to find, whether the PX3 can do this?
the reason is it's about 50 quid cheaper, and there's one ending on ebay soon.
also, how come it can record/loop/sample, plus it's got all those effects and amp models, yet it's loads cheaper than any other phrase sampler/looper thing?
is it just a cheap budget thing?
thanks,
tim |

tim | The PX3B has a sampler but I believe it only records 1/2 as long. Great for grabbing and slowing down (up to 1/2 speed whilst still in tune) difficult parts to hear. Effects are pretty decent IMO, some quite useable in real life. I have the PX3B and the PX4B and both are great at what they do. I've never played on the PX4D so can't provide a direct comarision.

The only differences between the two are that the PX4D provides guitar amp/cab modeling and effects in addition to the bass amp/cab models and effects. The PX4D can also provide a bass line for the built-in drum rhythms. The PX4B supports infrared wireless headphones. Basically, the PX4D is the PX4 and the PX4B all in one device.
I found the PX4D too cluttered with all of the guitar stuff, and therefore sold it to a guitar-playing friend. |

The 3 only has 16 seconds of sample time. If you want to actually record stuff, you just plug the output into your computer and record with it.

You can record a low bit poor sounding loop for PRACTICE purposes, but you're not able to trigger from remote and it sounds to crummy.
Buy a dedicated looper for that. But its a great PRACTICE (and youtube video recording) headphone amp (ok, no more yelling;-))
But ive seen an new bigger usb based version the 5xPD,
Anyone had experiences with that? |

| | | | holy sh*t, it's MarloweDK. you're like a celebrity now...
sorry, i meant how long can you record a loop for, and then jam over that? it'd just be for practise, not for recording or live.
cheers |

reg the Korg
The pandora can only record 1 to 12 bar loops on the JAM setting (you playing with the builtin drummachine) Otherwise it can record 8 to 32 bars with no option to check tempo - used for learning parts |

I just want something that is portable and lets me run off of batteries so that I can practice wherever I may be. And the PX4B looks like it would be enough for me... but I can't seem to find any retailers who are selling it.
oh yeah... and I am a big fan of MarloweDK as well!
