Korg Pitchblack - 4 Display Modes

Sign in to disble this ad
Yeah I finally bought a tuner. I'm definitely digging the Pitchblack. Of course its not the infamous Turbo Tuner but this things is rad haha!

Anyways I'm just curious to see what display modes you use. Here they are:

1. Meter mode
Similar to using a needle meter, tune your instrument so that the green LED in the center of the LED display lights and both tuning guide LED’s are lit. The tuning LED’s will be to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of the center if your instrument is flat.

2. Full Strobe mode
Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and both tuning guide LED’s are lit. The LED meters will stream from left to right if your instrument is sharp and from right to left if your instrument is flat.

3. Half Strobe mode
Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and only the green LED in the center is lit and both tuning guide LED’s are lit. The LED meters will stream to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of center if your instrument is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit.

4. Mirror mode
Tune your instrument so that the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle and both tuning guide LED’s are lit. The pitch lit LEDs will spread farther apart the more your instrument is out of tune. The left tuning guide will light if your instrument is flat, and the right tuning guide will light if your instrument is sharp.

I like the modes in this order. 4=1 >3>2.

woohoooooo

"Up to four display right here... four display... you can get, uh... uh... let's see... uh... many display."

I don't have the pedal but having seen this awesome demo of it I have learned that the first mode is my favorite. I don't really understand how to use mode two.

First mode.

Trent, by daisy chaining, do you mean running pedals off the 9V out or just in a chain with a 1-Spot?

To everyone, I have the normal pitchblack. and by daisy i mean this. I want to plug the korg into the wall. Then use the ac out on it to power the big muff rather than have two plugs. This will work because the pitchblack is never going to be on when i use the muff right?

First mode because it always defaults to that when I unplug it anyhow.

I have the infamous Sonic Research tuner for the record... but you could use the BOSS daisy chain to connect pedals after the Pitchblack, or just a Voodoo Labs PP2+/BBE Supa Charger cable (male plug to male plug BOSS standard 2.1mm x 5.5mm) if you only need to connect one pedal. You could always go to your local Radio Shack to make a cable yourself. As far as this working, I would assume that it will work as long as the mA output of the power supply you are using is enough (it should be, neither pedal is exceptionally power hungry).

The pitchblack will easily power a few other pedals. i am using a single cable to power one extra pedal from the pitchblack as I ran out of inputs on my PP2+. Works very well.
