Korg Pitchblack as power source for boss pedals.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey yeah, I did a search and read the comments but am just curious if anyone out there is using their Korg Pitchblack tuner to power a few Boss pedals.

I got 4 to power (BF-2, CE-5, DD-3 & GEB-7).

Is the 200ma power output of the Pitchblack power 4 boss pedals?

Yeah I know very little about electrical stuff.

Those four boss pedals draw ~100mA together, so shouldn't be a problem.

Jase, a few things to be aware of:

The Korg doesn't actually "power" anything - the DC output on it is linked directly to the adapter, so the output is just another part of the daisy chain. Which means, in short, that if your adapter is 200mA, then that's what you have to work with all pedals INCLUDING the Korg. The Korg provides nothing extra power-wise other than a jack and wires.

Technically, you could use a daisy-chain on all five pedals and not even use the DC output on the Korg, and it'd be electrically identical.

As for those pedals... you should be fine. If you check their manuals (and they're available online from Boss and Roland, if you don't have them), you'll find the values for their usual current draws in mA. Add up all four, plus the Korg's value... and as long as it's under 200mA, you should be okay.

You can also find most of the values here: http://www.diago.co.uk/powerstation_compatibility.html

Besides, if you're only using one pedal at a time, then you're not using much power at all. It's when they're all on that you'd be using a lot of power.
