Korg PX4D and Bass POD XT

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently own a Bass Pod XT, but I'm starting to GAS for a Korg PX4D based on opinions and reviews I've read about the Korg. Also watching and listening to MarloweDK on Youtube and playbassnow.com has influenced my interest in the PX4D. Seems to me it's received more favorably than the Pod XT. Has anyone used both and what do you think?

I would say that it's received more favorably because it has lower expectations. It's just a headphone amp. It's not trying to recreate a million amps.

I use my Pandora a lot for practice. All of the presets have too much reverb, but other than that, I like it.

The korg is a far superior modulator if you ask me. Also it uses 12ax7 tubes too, for more of a toob sound. You will like the Korg.

You're thinking of another Korg product. The Pandora is the little walkman size headphone amp.

I have the Korg PX4B (it's predecessor) and it's great for home practice, except if you'd like to use some serious headphones with it. I bought AKG K-501 headphones and I have to run them via my amp or it won't be loud enough.

But if your iPod can handle your headphones, the Pandora will too.

I wouldn't use the PX4B live though, even now when I'm quite used to it. The buttons are too small and I don't like browsing through menus on stage. But maybe that's just me. :-)

I have a bass pod xt, and I dont think I could want for much more tonally. I would like a good heavy metal amp setup in there (there isnt one), and the option to simulate multiple cabs (you cant), or even the option to run two rugs with a channel splitter (you cant). But tonally and interaction wise, the bass pod rules! I am doing a PhD in human/ machine interactions (ergonomics) so I know a few tricks of the trade. The bass pod Xt covers all grounds.
